Mick before shooting "Hey Pete, make sure to mention Stevie Ray Vaughan on MTV unplugged." Pete "Why?" Mick "I just may have just spent the last 3 days on a 12 string practicing SRV... and I really want to show off." Sounded great guys. Always a pleasure to listen to.

Amazing playing, thanks chaps! I'm new to this, but wanted to add my appreciation to the 12 string! I recently bought the Taylor 150e (it's a bit more expensive now!) and yesterday I added a Rickenbacker 330 12 string - what an amazing instrument and easier on the fingers than the acoustic! Well worth the little extra effort to get used to, every guitarist should have a 12 string in their collection!

Actually after hearing these two monkeys i not sure i want to go through with a purchase ...lol...- (I'm still going to get one) but you guys always play the predictable, I suppose it's expected, nature of the beast etc. I will make some some VT's when mine arrives, not as costly as those and I have to add my piazo, ( I shall be getting proper adult dude to fit it for me - a chap not far away over the hills in Hebden Bridge who is a genius with guitars, but has a waiting list almost as big as his talent). Whilst I live in a town synonymous with the Blues!

Mick mentioned the low number of smaller-bodied 12s. JHS 'Vintage' Paul Brett signature 880PB is a parlour 12 with body join at the 12th. (The 880 is the new, upgraded version with better electro and easy access battery compartment). It's lovely to play and with more of a jangle than the Taylor. Both are superb (I've owned and played both) but whereas the Taylor is very expensive, the 880 is affordable. Both come in their own hard case. The 562CE has now also been upgraded by Taylor and uses V bracing.

In 1963 I wandered into the record department of a store in Birmingham and chanced upon an LP by Billy Strange titled 'Twelve String Guitar'. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mn6akqV5mb2mgbs That day and that find changed my musical life and now the Taylor 562ce has done it again. The instrument is truly sublime to play - even easier than any of my 6 strings by way of action all down the fretboard and playability. The shorter scale is a revelation. What thre guitar lacks in the raw jangle of a traditional 12 it makes up for in volume and richness of tone. Since '63 I've had a variety of 12s including the the classic Eko Ranger back in the late 60s. (Built like a brick but surprisingly good to play). This video was the final decider for me, so thanks chaps. I've been grinning like the proverbial Cheshire cat ever since I got it. My wallet was unhappy but I'm not. If you love 12 strings, give yourself a treat and try the 562ce. You may never be the same again.

First off, I am a huge fan and love you guys. Second, I'm a Taylor owner (314ce) and I love my Taylor sound, but I just noticed in this video the pickup sound vs miked is drastically different. You guys do this a lot. Is this a recording thing and an anomaly or does it sound that different through the pickup vs miked normally?

Does anyone know any companies that make 12-string lefties? I'm in love with their sound, but I can't find 'em anywhere. Or could I just buy a semetrical one and just let a local luthier flip the bridge and strings? Thanks!
@MustafaAldhaheri8 жыл бұрын
tuksedoken I'm not an expert in 12 string guitar, but in a 6 string replacing the bridge and saddle with lefty ones will do it as the bracing is symmetrical from inside. You can even go for a transparent pick guard to keep everything tidy!
