Hard to believe it's been almost 50 years since we recorded this (May 1975) and even harder to fathom that the stereo master tapes are still in playable condition. Very curious to hear the new mastering but from what I can tell from the video, it sounds pretty good and I really appreciate Dillon's passion for bringing wacky stuff like this to a wider audience. Chad trying to say the band's name was also pretty funny and fairly typical of the reaction we got when we tried to get a label interested back in the day. Looking forward to the release.

Dillon, Kansas is home for me and I have had to opportunity to take a tour of the QRP facilities too, not guided but Chad of course. What I was impressed by, besides the pressing plant, warehouse, etc, was the people who work there. Everyone was cordial and pleasant as I came through their work areas, and very diligent to their task at hand. QRP has some quality people working there. Thanks Dillon for sharing.

My wife and I had a tour a few years ago while on a road trip to St Louis. It was such a nice time. Friendly employees, great business and great products. Highlight of the trip for me.

Acoustic Sounds and QRP are impressive places indeed. I wish this tour video hadn’t been so heavily edited, however. It seemed that whenever we started to see something interesting, it would cut off and the audio would go to overlaid music. I think you could have gotten three videos out of this, one each for Acoustic Sounds, QRP, and for the album reissue project. Perhaps consider putting together a longer videos for those of us who like to see the details. 🙂

Thanks for the video Dillon👍🏻Very cool that you guys shared the A/B’ing of the Yezda Urfa test pressing with the original. I think Matt is a great choice for these type albums. He does very balanced mastering. The test pressing, from what I could determine, does sound different from the original. But I didn’t sense it was dull or bass heavy or even that modern “audiophile” sound that sometimes sounds a bit too goosed. Yes it sounds weightier but I could hear pretty good definition and clarity while at the same time taming a bit of harshness. Chad is funny, he wants things to be as good as possible. I almost got the feeling he wanted to cut another test pressing lol. Thats good though to have someone who cares enough to do it right. Its all new to you I am sure but dont be afraid if a cut isnt to your liking to ask a redo and tell them why. I know, kind of a balancing act Im sure. Can’t wait for these two to come out. Im curious, if you know and can say, how did Matt say the Yezda Urfa mastertape sound? (Still fresh sounding?)

Hey Dylan, great video! I wonder, since you've been part of this industry for so long and seen from the collector side and shop owner side (and now the label side!), does going on a tour like this kinda break the spell a bit? Or does it make you even more interested in "records" as a whole? I would be afraid that "seeing how the sausage is made" would make them feel more like a commodity or something. Just curious, great video man!

Impressive... but my very first UHQR record from Chad had a TON of surface noise so I had to wait around a couple of months for an exchange. So disappointed for a first UHQR. Seems like a TON of hype ? No other records in my modest collection had any of the issues of his UHQR... SMH....
@noblerecords3 ай бұрын
Mistakes happen. They always make it right. I’ve bought every UHQR and not had a problem. They are hands down the best sounding records in my collection.
