Jesse Ed Davis did some excellent work with Taj Mahal, fantastic slide guitar player. If you like Statesboro Blues by the Allman Brothers, you can thank Jesse for that arrangement, Duane copies him on that lick for lick

I know with 10000+ records, you cannot listen out for the Whatnot shows, but any chance you could do a flip video (not too fast please) for what will be in the auction?

More than 10 years ago at a thrift store I found an original copy of Primevil Smokin' Bats At Campton's Lp for $5.00 never seen another original since then. What a great record it is. Unfortunately that thrift store went out of business. About 4 years ago at a local used record store in the $1.00 bin I found an original copy of Landslide Two Sided Fantasy Lp. I like that record never seen another original. I like your videos.

Super Randy Newman album! Not been record shop hunting in a long time, but seen some incredible bargains in the £5-10 bins here in the UK. I got my hands on some Police and Santana records, Rolling Stones comps and a copy of The Temptations 'Zoom' , a pretty rare record of theirs.

Wow. I feel humble just watching this. That is a true Zeppelin grail! Personally, I'm not a hifi buff or a big collector, but Zeppelin is my favourite band, and I still consider the moment I heard my first Zeppelin record (LZII) as the defining moment I became a man. It was just so wild and intense (this is about 2004, maybe), and was just getting into music, and particularly rock. So therefore, once before I kick it, I want to hear a crisp RL version of Zeppelin II through a really good system.

I saw a copy in a record shop in the UK about 10 years ago for £1000. I didn’t take the plunge, but that’s ok. I agree about collecting - for me it’s the story behind them, they are historic items. I have a 3rd state butcher cover and you can see some tears in the cover, but that’s part of the story to me.

Who wants to collect records if you don't listen to them ? The best time to purchase records was back in the 60's and 70's. Coloured vinyl is only a scam . The average price of a record in Australia,in 1965 was $5.50 Today that would amount to about $55.00

An interesting question and one that I can personally provide several answers to. I have been, historically, an original pressing guy and I caught this original pressing bug when I was working in a record store that also bought and sold "used" records from 1986 through 1991. For me, there is NOTHING that compares to the thrill of searching and finding an original pressing, especially of difficult to find albums. That being said, in recent times, the record companies have been reissuing their albums in wonderfully packaged, pressed and sounding configurations, many times even surpassing the original release. The one album where I do TOTALLY agree that the original pressing that you highlighted in this video that is "head and shoulders" above ANY other issue or reissue sonically speaking is Nirvana's U.S. Geffen's release of "Nevermind" (the Led Zeppelin ll album would also be an example of this too). Additionally, I was a major collector of promo and "white label promo" albums and those cannot be duplicated/reissued so in those cases, only an original will do. That being said. I recommend it to any new or experienced collector to do your research and follow a few people who you trust and purchase music from. I guarantee you will save time and potentially lots of money in doing so. Thanks again for your insight, passion and knowledge as it is MUCH appreciated...Cheers!

I don''t collect records. I purchase records to listen to .. The records i have today were all purchased in the 60's and 70's when quality control of manufacturing companies was at its highest. I only kept the ones i really like and listen to. They have been well looked after, thoroughly cleaned and played on top quality turntables with cartridges tracking at no more than 1.75 grams. It is not a good idea to have your records leaning onto other records in your cabinet. They should remain vertical at all times. The price of an average record in Australia in 1965 was about $5.50. Today, with inflation it would be about $56.00 If you sold all the records you don't need you could buy one of the best turntables with a separate state of the art tonearms and a cartridge capable of extracting undamaged information from the grove. Most young people who buy records today have no idea what they sound like played on a top quality turntable fitted with a uni-pivot tonearm tracking a record at 1.5 grams with a moving coil cartridge. with the signal going into a separate pre-amp power amp .and neutral speakers. This produces a more musical sound so much better than a digital signal. At the end of the day, records are all about musicality, not the medium, not the cover art, not to buy and never play them. It is High Fidelity which has stood the test of time.

About 12 years ago as I was exiting NY's Chelsea Flea market a vendor was just setting up. I scored this Superhype/Turquoise/unscratched matrices version for $10. The vinyl was VG-, noisy but no skips. Cover was VG++. Sold it on eBay for just north of $600. Also found a plum Zeppelin II that day.

I'll never forget playing this album in college! My buddies lived in one of those dorms with quiet rules. That was until 3:00pm! When the clock struck 3, they would cue up Good Times Bad Times on the stereo, and they cranked the beginning guitar licks up at full blast! That was so effing funny at the time! Cool video Dillon!

I do have one. My dad had it in his record collection. I didn't even know he had it until maybe 10 years back. I was going through all his records and saw the turquoise and was like...uhm. Ok I've never seen that before. I wonder where he got it because he definitely didn't go to the UK. He stopped buying the vinyl I now own maybe in 1978 or 80 at the latest. More likely it was purchased in California or he got it from a friend who got it somewhere else...hard to say. They were pretty wild back then!

Well...for rarity yes. For listening? A mint RL pressing of II is cheaper and has more bang. IMHO when getting a record for a rare cover, like this or a Butcher Cover, I don't care about vinyl rating JUST the cover condition.

As a collector and dealer of collectibles myself....it does pain me to see a person HAVE to sell any pieces of their collection - HOWEVER -if YOU'RE in a financial bind, due to whatever reason, and the collectibles that are sold PAY off or eliminate that financial burden.....then it was ALL worth it to sell them. Always sell your low grade stuff first....

Only one of the greatest debut albums EVER...by the greatest band. (Yes - they are #1 for me....Beatles are #2....they used to be #1 but Zep knocked them down after I heard Graffiti when I was at a party when I was about 16....and then that was the end of the Beatles being #1 for me)
