I just wanna thank you so much for your top notch support for the Mixcraft users. I just bought Mixcraft 9 after getting tired of ProTools monthly billing and Cubase crashing more with every update. But you guys have "kept it simple" in a sense that amazes me... You are THE ONLY DAW which work seamlessly even if you disconnected the External Audio Interface... You are also the only one (running Windows) on which I can just drop a MIDI file and it will read & play it without additional routing. Those little simple things have made me love you. Thanks

Great video! I had to come back and watch it again, because at the very end of the video, you compare your mix with your master. I could not figure out why my master track did not show any signal. On the second hearing, I noticed that you "brought the master WAV file back into Mixcraft." That is how you were able to compare waveforms of the mix versus the waveform of the master. Thanks for producing a most informative presentation.

1. Lesson learned on bouncing tracks.... If there's a send, it's going to bounce that send into that tack. 2. I wish there was a HPF on the parametric equalizer in the mix tab. There's shelf and bell for the low end but no HPF knob. Also where in the chain is that parametric eq? Is it like a master eq for the track or when do all the fx go after that?

Hey there! Glad to hear it was helpful! As for recording the vocals along with the track - you'd want to make sure you're monitoring the track through headphones and not through speakers, and ensure that the headphones don't have too much bleed (aka: letting the sound escape into the mic).

@liljaysodope81262 жыл бұрын
Also, for the tape emulator, should the meter not drop below a certain point?
@acoustica2222 жыл бұрын
Hey there! Mastering is a process covering the entire mix, and not individual elements. So, this wouldn't really apply to a single track in a mix. As for the tape emulation/level, this is highly relative. There's no real answer as to exact levels of things, as it just depends on the context of the mix. Remember: if it sounds good, it is good!
@NineZeta4 жыл бұрын
Hey Cameron. Just one or two question man. What are your thoughts on using a plugin like Izotope Ozone elements on the master track? It seems to work like magic. And... I find that it does a much better job than me. I would just pick a preset... Then that's it. Maybe I'd do a final eq.... But most of the time, it seems to get it right. Or am I getting it wrong? That's all. Thanks!

sorry for the noob question, but is it better to mix down your tracks to a single track and then master that track? or can you do this is in the song project master with all the individual tracks? thank you
@acoustica2223 жыл бұрын
Hey there! That's entirely up to you - if your PC is struggling to play back the project with all the other effects in the session, bouncing and mastering in a separate project might be a good idea. However doing it all in one session can make it easier to make smaller adjustments in the mix when needed!
@OmniphonProductions3 жыл бұрын
I wish I had watched this video BEFORE my band released our first album. I recorded and mixed the album using Mixcraft 8...which I love...however, I didn't yet know about Mastering or LUFS. The result is an album that sounds great on a great system...and won't even play when streamed to some phones. Having said that, how does one _bounce_ all the tracks to a single Mix Bus, or is that even a necessary step? In other words, can everything you did in this video be done to the _whole_ project _without_ bouncing it to _one_ Mix Bus? THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS!!! I'm literally on the verge of happy tears to finally be learning this crucial element. Too late for the first album, but plenty more to go!
@acoustica2223 жыл бұрын
Glad the video was helpful! As for bouncing to a single stereo file, you'd simply export the track from your mix session as a lossless WAV file, then import that to a blank session for mastering. While it's not absolutely necessary, running mastering plugins on top of a mix session might be pretty aggressive on the CPU depending on how many plugins are used in the session!
@OmniphonProductions3 жыл бұрын
@@acoustica222 Thanks again! By the way, I went back and attempted to apply this lesson to my previously mentioned project. I noticed that some of the tools in the video aren't in my Mixcraft 8 drop-down menu. Also, having recorded each song as a single, continuous take...with _all_ parts simultaneously recorded to a _single_ LIVE track...when I attempted to apply the lessons of this video (using the tools that _are_ in my menu), I still ended up with music that sounds great in the car speakers, good on the TV speakers, and distorted on my phone. Any suggestions? P.S. I also applied those lessons and available tools to an orchestral midi composition, and it really filled out the sound beautifully. It went from sounding obviously digital to almost live. I never thought I'd say this, but I'm actually glad Cakewalk got bought out. I loved _all_ the versions of their software I used over the _decades,_ but if they hadn't gone out of business, I never would have been forced to look elsewhere...and never would have found Mixcraft. Really loving it!
