Thank you! so glad you asked. I think, as the lord of trickery, he said that just to diminish his role in the events that are happening, but we clearly see that he affects them a lot. So it's his trick again to switch the attention to philosophically describing physical aspects of nature, when it was a clear metaphor for him.
