Confused about what exactly IS Acro mode and how it differs from auto level (AKA "Angle") mode? I was too!
In this video I'll answer that question as well as offer some quad-saving flight tips for fellow beginners!

I started on a simulator to learn Acro mode. It was way cheaper and I could practice for longer amounts of time without needing to worry about batteries, losing the drone, or hitting people.

I have the same drone but sometimes when I fly it, the yaw control stops working and drifts slightly before I gain control of it which it does many times. Is there a way to fix this in the cleanflight software? I used your video on setting the thing up so I don't understand what the problem is.

That husbsan x4 is such a great little quad to start with. It's pretty fast and can go so high and far flying los it gets sketchy lol

There are actually three modes, Horizon, Angle and Acro mode and yes you can assign it to a switch using software like betaflight..

Is it normal for my Motors to have a much higher idle speed when armed in angle mode, as opposed to acro ? I've got airmode enabled on both, so why do they spin faster in angle ?

Basically, yes. In autolevel (angle) mode, they are working harder to maintain a level attitude.

@@RCwithAdam1 Hy Adam. I think i understand. The gyro doesn't know when i'm actually in the air, so it starts to basically try to level as soon as i arm ? I was surprised because i didn't expect the quad to have a different motor speed even at 0 throttle. I assumed that only kicks in once it's in the air and has something to balance.

How do I access auto level mode?

You can setup a switch on your radio for that in betaflight (the flight controller configurator).

how many motors have you gone through with the x4?

It still has the original motors intalled, but now definitely one or two need to be replaced. (And I'm sure the performance would be way better if I replaced them all).

brushed motors suck as it is but if you're going to use them then never replace a just the bad brushed motors, if you need to replace do them all, i learned that the hard way. the brushed motors jjrc puts in their quads have a real run time life expectancy of 50 minutes, hubsan isn't much better, back when i had my x4, just using it to hover around the living room the motors started going out by the 10th pack and i only had 1 pak so it wasn't from running paks back to back, it's the brushes that almost always go, take one apart and you'll see why. for a while i used buy motors in bulk 12 packs but gave it up to go back to cars when the FAA stated their crap. walmart has the BNF x4 107L for $14, it doesn't say what they BNF to but i doubt it will be my 9x, i wonder if it will connect to an x4 h107c tx, i have about 15 old toy quad tx's in a drawer if i could remember which one is for the x4 i'd spend the $14 to get one

my eachine wizard didn't have acro mode in betaflight, just angle and horizon. Ever heard of that?

Acro mode is the default flight mode. so if angle mode or horizon mode (or acro trainer mode) is not turned on, acro mode will be active.

@@glytch5 My ready to fly wizard had a 2 position click switch that was off or disarm and then on or armed in angle mode . So there was no way to add another flight mode like horizon or angle because you can't have 2 flight modes on at once . And acro mode is default with no flight mode . So switch off angle would switch off arm at the same time . So you need to use betaflight to put just arm/ disarm on one switch . And put flight modes on a different switch . Betaflight can be done with a phone app called speedy bee app . It is free . It does pretty much everything comouter betaflight does. I needed an " on the go usb c to big usb male connector and a usb big end to micro usb end fir the quad to plug and the usb type c of the on the go ( otg) cord for the android phone and hooked together the phone connected to the drone . Turn on speedybee app and the phone screen shows to click the cable connection on and it says " found fc number 5346 or something connect ? Say yes . And the speedy bee miniature screen betaflight configurator come on . You see all the stuff you can learn about from adams tutorials or josh bardwell or other videos and you can configure your drone . It is nit too hard . It might take a few hours of instructinal videos to get started take notes and some is tx channels inputs mixes aux channels . And then it all starts to make sense . Keep an eye on battery power because batteries go dead fast and the betaflight needs p oh wer from the drone to work . Keep your vtx cool or on low power or unplug it if you are going to have it on running on the bench or desk . Vtx can get hot and break from long table top betaflight learning sessions .

I still think angle mode is ok for learning the most basics, but after that switch straight to Acro. Horizon mode isn't really used anymore because it's just a weird and confusing middleground between angle and acro. 👍

yeah its free to download. just type in betaflight in google and the first thing that usually pops up is "betaflight configurator" go to that page and download the app (or search for a video on how to download betaflight on youtube)
