I love that live stream you did the other day, of your tank and fish. My favorite fish is the SGT MJR Damsel. Great video too. I love acropora. I just picked a nice chunky Frag of A.Spathulata from Pacific east Aquaculture.

Nice! I'll be looking at doing a monthly Livestream when I get things figured out. That way we can all talk in real time and hang out. Thanks!

Nice healthy Acro’s. What is your lighting? Curious what your photo period, peak period, and individual color channel % intensities are. Also curious about nutrient levels. ✅ Cheers.

Thanks! The tank has been through some changes since that video too. I now use a Reefbrite fixture with the four Kessil a360x lights. When the Reefbrite is on, the Kessils are on full color (white), and about 35% intensity. When the Reefbrite is off at 6 pm, the Kessils ramp up to 55% intensity and 20% color before ramping down to 0%. Full photo period is twelve hours, with a six hour peak. Par ranges from 150 on bottom to about 300 up top. Nitrates are usually at 25 ppm, and phosphate is around .03 ppm. I am trying to increase phosphate lately.

Thanks for all your help.. Awesome to have someone in michigan to watch and learn from. Love the channel. I'm coming up on a 1 year for my tank and I still have the brown dino's in the sand and some on rock. It's getting better. I have the kind that goes away at night and comes back during the lights on. If you have any wisdom for this let me know. FYI my phosphate is between .05 and .1, and my nitrate is low , about 3 to 5 on average.

Hey there Wes! Thanks for watching, and for your kind comments! I suggest making sure you have dino and not cyano with a microscope if you can. But if you for sure have dino, and it goes away at night, then a series of three day blackouts may help as well as adding a uv sterilizer like the coralvue turbo twist, on it's own pump and dedicated loop. I got rid of ostreopsis dino by doing 3 day complete blackouts (you can still turn on lights temporarily to feed fish) as required, and adding the sterilizer. So I would basically have the lights off for about 3 days a week for a few months, as I turned them off when the dino reappeared. It took about 3 months.

For around a year, my 30 gallon long was almost entirely SPS. Acros and they grew fast and thick. I switched to LPS since I had to go to university. But- setting up a doser, having enough light and flow, and testing my ALK daily with a Hanna checker did the trick

I have quite a few in my frag tank. I don’t really pay attention to the marketing names for them. I have added more since this video. You can see some of them in the October update video. Happy Reefing!

Hi reefer matt ,awesome video . Do you think sps coral need more white light or blue light ? Higher par can be more blue or more white ?
@Reefer_Matt
@Reefer_Matt Жыл бұрын
Hi Adam! I use a ramping light schedule that is peak par for four hours from noon to 4 pm, and tapers off before and after that. During that time, I use a whiter spectrum, because I believe sps coral get more growth from the whites, but better color from blues. So I try to get the best of both. Thanks for the question, and for watching!
