I rode from Southern California to St Joseph, MO. Thru KS, from West of Johnson City to East of Pittsburg. I can irrevocably say, "Kansas ain't flat!"

I started to set up camp in a park near Scott City once. As I started to spread my ground sheet two large tarantulas slowly strolled across the spot I’d chosen.

You rode through the part of the state I know so very well. I lived in far western Kansas for several years, and am very familiar with all of the towns you visited. The flatness will soon stop, but it still won't be anything like your experiences in mountains. Glad the residents were great - it's one thing we are noted for!

Toto, we're still in Kansas, aren't we? Thanks for taking us all along on your adventure. Nicely done!

The great truths of bicycle touring: 1) we will hit headwinds no matter our direction of travel, 2) there is always one more hill ahead 😉

I think I saw Ash and Becky in Hesston KS pulling into the city park on september 6th. I was riding from from Newton and back. I almost stopped to chat. I found your channel today and realized that they were the cyclist I saw. Hopefully they caught up with you.

Was that a River City waterbottle I saw? Best bike shop ever!
@somethinglikebike2 ай бұрын
Indeed! I take it for granted that I have that spot as my neighborhood bike shop. You clearly also have excellent taste in bike shops.

Same! I was there when Dave opened it, and my kid raced on the RCB team. I moved away in 2023, and have yet to find as shop even half as good. I miss it!!!

How often do you get sloppy and accidentally ride a bit off the pavement onto the shoulder? Great series so far. Been watching, and am now driving from Oregon myself and will be passing you up tomorrow. Western SD tonight.

Thanks! So far, not too often. Road tires do very poorly on that gravel so I try to stay out of it.
