I remember being on a bus in Fiji & hearing a girl crying. She was German, 18 & had signed up for a 6 month volunteer programme to ‘help Fiji.’ She was unhappy for many reasons, the two that spring to mind are 1) most Fijians she met only housed volunteers as a source of income & didn’t care about ‘saving’ their country and 2) she was getting tea & toast for breakfast every day whilst her hosts were having lots of fresh fruit, etc. I’m sure that there are several genuine opportunities out there. I’m just saying to be careful, that’s all.

Lack of beaches in the UK????? Are you serious?. Great Britain is an island surrounded by beaches. Northern Ireland has about 360 miles of coastline, which means that the UK has about 20,000.00 miles of coastline, if you include ALL the islands. Of course, most of that coastline does not have warm water, but depending on where you’re from, that may or may not be a problem. Plus, the skies aren’t going to be that blue, a lot of the time. But I just wanted to set the record straight on a ‘lack of beaches.’

Why don’t you do your research and find out?
@Dan-xx5jq8 ай бұрын
it is real. But you might find out it us not worth it for the amount of labor you put in. There is a YT video of an American who went on one of these programs, working on a farm in exchange for room and board in Australia. He assumed he would tour the country when not working. The first place he went to worked him to, death that he was too exhausted to go anywhere when he was off. He did transfer to another farm where he didn't have to work as hard, but with no money he couldn't travel anywhere. He also got very, very sick and almost died as he didn't have the money to see a doctor and thought he would eventually get better and he almost died. Fortunately his parents had the money to fly him back in the nic of time, to the US for treatment. If they paid a small salary it would be worth it but if you have no money in savings to use, you will be stuck without going anywhere. It is for folk that want to contribute to the world and experience a different culture without much sight seeing. And they do have a lot of the hippe types willing to do that. There had one Canadian that was so screwed up with drugs that he jumped on the opportunity for a new environment by flying to Thailand and turning his life around. He did turn his life around. He also never returned to Canada. Also, keep in mind the meals are very, very basic, at these places and some are completely vegan. They grow all the vegetables needed and you will also have to help with assisting in food prep and clean up. So if you are looking for a change of scenery, wanting to meet like minded people that want to change the world like Hippies once tried to do, these are great opportunities. In the past the Peace Corps was very popular. You did work full-time but they paid you a small stipend for your personal expenses like food, rent etc.

if you are a person who are an activist or want to learn a trade this is great. You get a bed and a roof and some food. Choose a 3 day work requirement and save your real money to splash on the rest of the week. You complain that you are working for someone.... don't you work for someone already or your business? Yourr pay is your lodging so no you are not a slave. Hell I will go to Italy and pick grapes and learn to make wine. All vacations do not have to be in a 5 star hotel and you will learn some HUMILITY, see what work the people who produce for "your" food goes thru.... see what regular people in the world have to do on a day to day basis, learn their culture. By the way missionaries also work and have to pay lots of money to go help people. Everyone should do it, you will be much more appreciative and have a better attitute when you coma back home!!
@mrmo40596 ай бұрын
@@Vchilipepper i am a forex trader working for myself and i double down on what i wrote. Slaves got beds, a roof and some food. Ive looked at the "jobs" that are offered, and im horrified at the audacity of paying a company, so you pay to travel to the country and then you are working for free while someone else is getting paid. Using your example of wine making, the wine is being sold FOR MONEY so why should they not pay the people making the wine. If this was a volunteering scheme where you are giving your time to plant trees or building a school for a poor community then room and board is fine and its a great idea. However its not and is open to exploitation from cheap businesses who dont want to pay workers, while giving them poor food and poor housing conditions. I would have a lot more money "to splash" if i was paid to woro for those three days!
