👍😁 *Just a tip; if I find that my ball is too runny I just flip my hand upside down and continue to shape it with my hand up in the air until it has hardened enough. The runny part will settle to the middle of the nail and all you need to do then is pat down the sides and make sure they're straight. (It took me awhile to get liquid to powder ratio perfect, so this helped whenever I had found it to be too wet.) Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge!*

Ok, so first of all, I am a guy and realize it's kinda "weird" for me (a straight man) to be interested in these videos. 🤓😜🤣 Really I'm watching it for the artistic quality and because my daughter is always asking me to do her nails for her, because I'm a scale plastic model builder and work with pretty small scales. Now, of course I have to oblige, and usually do a pretty good job if I do say so, myself. 😉😂 Although the last time (last summer) it just fell apart. Literally fell apart. The polish started lifting after a couple days, and that is all I have done in the past, for her, is just "paint" them. But, she usually picks fairly intricate designs and she has very small/skinny nails. I'm thinking maybe this year she can have acrylic built up like in this video, and since I already have all the stuff to do it, because I use acrylic powders to fill large gaps and even form missing details and/or parts in building my models and since she's 16, almost 17 she can have something like that now. So I guess long story, short, thanks for sharing your knowledge and tips. It's a great help to see how it's done. I think last year I messed up because I don't think that I had buffed her nails prior to painting. Another thing was that my mom didn't have primer so I thought I would be "smart" and just used my model acrylic primer. That obviously wasn't a good enough substitute. So this year I'm getting a proper nail primer and I'm also going to experiment (on fake nails first) thinning and airbrushing gels. I know that sounds crazy, but there are some effects I want to see if I can achieve. If it works out on the test nails, maybe I'll video the process on my daughters nails and post it on my channel. 🤞
@salma89705 жыл бұрын

@GryphonArmorer5 жыл бұрын
salma jaime . Yes ma'am. 😜 Yeah, I'm working on that. I've been pretty busy trying getting two dioramas ready for a show next month. And I'm kinda experimenting with gels to shoot them through my airbrush. That's the only way to get some of the "effects". My mom used to do her own nails but says she's forgotten how, so no pointers there. Just a little nervous to actually work on my daughters nails, as far as acrylic, because it's a little different with models. If I grind/sand too deep on a model it's no problem just fill the spot and start over, do that on a person and you get blood. We'll see, after the model show.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate it! I have tried Mia Secret colored acrylics and I like them. They are of great quality and not super runny. In my opinion really easy to work with. I haven't tried the monomer. But honestly I don't see much difference in monomers except for the smells or if they specify stuff like "fast drying" or "slow setting". It is true that each product works differently so just practice, practice, practice. Once you get the hang of it you'll be able to see how much monomer is needed in your brush to get the perfect consistency.
