I’m so glad that I just found your Chanel . Not many artists use acrylic for portrait painting as they know it’s very hard to achieve the result. I’ve watched so many videos on lines in hope to learn useful techniques ,tips to do acrylic portraits , you are by far the best teacher. You are talented and very smart . Your techniques are excellent, simple enough to follow yet very accurate and amazing result! Thank you so much and God Bless!

@@fineartbymattphilleo Hanging in there Matt. I'm currently working on a few projects including a free portrait of a COVID19 victim to help the grieving family. These are challenging times for everyone. Thankful that we love a God who misses nothing. Take good care of yourself and your family. Good to see you doing this series.🙏😊

Really helpful ! I'm one of those that started painting without a lot of drawing skills so this helps improve that area as well as the glazing technics. Thanks

Thst's awesomeMatt, am looking forwards to painting tomorrow, thank you. It is a very similar process to how I paint portraits in watercolour, as I use transparent watercolours and build delicate layers upon each other to achieve the depth of colour. It makes such gorgeous skin tones... I am even more excited to paint now 🤗
@fineartbymattphilleo4 жыл бұрын
Hi Netty, I'm glad the process is similar to watercolor. That will make it easier for you to do this technique. I wasn't a fan of watercolor when I tried it back in junior high school. I'm too messy of a painter. I would spill water on my paintings and ruin them! But with acrylic, you can always fix things up. :)

Hi Matt! I do enjoy your way of teaching! I have no matte medium so I'm watching till the end and until I get the matte medium . I did the sketch but I also didn't have canvas so that was on paper. I'm learning regardless just watching you. Thank you!

This is so exciting and thank you so much for sharing this fascinating technique. If you do not have Raw umber dark, can you use burnt umber or is there a way to mix it?
@fineartbymattphilleo4 жыл бұрын
Yes. You can use raw umber and add a little bit of ultramarine blue and slightly smaller amount of alizarine crimson.

Is there a reason you don't just erase the grid lines instead of painting over them?
@iwanabfre4 жыл бұрын
just watched it all, ty Matt.. I like all the steps and slower process.. I am one of those slap the paint on thick people and I know it gets me in trouble lol( landscapes) no ultramarine on the darker shades of skin? just wondering.. I see blue and green all the time in peoples skin colours.. excited to start.. I think I fixed the eye ball in my sketch right :)
@fineartbymattphilleo4 жыл бұрын
Hi Ellen. Because the glazing technique is very translucent, meaning you can see through the layers, using ultramarine blue on areas of lighter tonal value would give you a very muddy look. It's better to use it for values that are close to black. Thanks for watching the whole thing! :)
