About the pour:
This time I went thicker with my paint - this made the ring pour ripple and become less defined which gives an almost alcohol ink esque pattern. No silicone added. The DecoArt Extreme Sheen gold pops up in pearls to contrast the green and black~ :)

Aww glad you love it~! Of course I'll share as much as I can recall: I used the DecoArt Extreme Sheen for the "pearls" (24K gold color) and Artist Loft acrylics in neon green, emerald green, sap green, deep green and ivory black. Both the DecoArt and the Artist Loft were mixed with Liquitex pouring medium to a much thicker consistency than I typically use. Hope that helps and happy pouring~ :)

Oh my gosh. Ive been doing exactly this for awhile now. Dang it ! Someone else finally figured it out. Oh i watched and one big difference is my gold cells more towards the center come up with some color on top of them which looks way cool ! So i wont share my recipe ! Lol

Green is not one of my color choices. I have a customer who is requesting a piece done in greens and gold. I have watched so many just for green colors that really go together with gold. My client wants it in dark. Your painting and technique is amazing. As you poured I said to myself now why did he put the hold on bottom. Then as your paint was moving I started to see why. Amazing.... Thank you for educating me on greens and gold. Loved it.

Thank you! For this piece I used Artist Loft acrylics mixed with Liquitex Pouring Medium. I don't have a specific ratio for my pours - I stir the colors up, watching how the paint falls back into the cup from the stir stick, then adjust the paint or medium amount according to my needs for the specific pour. This one had much thicker paint than typical because I wanted the ring pour to ripple rather than pour straight lines from the cup. The gold DecoArt paint that I laid down on the canvas first was just as thick, if not slightly thicker than the rest of the paints. I hope that was helpful~ :)

Thank you~! I wouldn't say that I like the results better than a standard ring pour - it is just a different effect. I think they are both valid and beautiful and it is a good skill to have knowing what to change in order to get a different result depending upon the look you want. :) I haven't personally tried Elmers Glue All, but I do know several artists that love it as a medium. It can create fantastic cells, and is about the same in price, or sometimes cheaper, than Floetrol (and both are vastly less expensive than an artist-marketed product like Liquitex) so it is a great less expensive alternative to create with.

It looks beautiful! I'm a total novice at these kind of things but would it work with poster paint? it seems a lot cheaper and there is no diluting the paint.

Thank you~ That is a good question. I can not personally recommend poster paints for acrylic pouring. They dry with a chalky matte appearance, have a significantly lower pigment load than most acrylics, break down quickly when exposed to moisture/water even after initially fully drying, are best used on smooth surfaces like poster board rather than woven canvas, and have no archival qualities - they will degrade faster over time which can be distressing if the piece created was cherished.

Thank you Patricia! I don't have a specific ratio for my pours - depending upon the technique I will make the paints thicker or thinner (for example, thicker for a ring pour, and thinner for a flip cup) I judge the viscosity by using the stir stick to pick up paint and watching it fall back into the cup. If it doesn't create a mound on the surface, it is thin, and the larger the mound the thicker it is. I use either Liquitex Pouring Medium or Floetrol as a (less expensive) medium. I don't personally add water to my paints (just paint + pouring medium) but that it certainly a valid option for thinning as long as you use less than 30% water to paint~ :)

In this pour I used acrylics thinned with only Liquitex Pouring Medium. All of the colors were mixed this way, and for the gold I specifically used Deco Art Extreme Sheen acrylic - it is a very dense metallic and the contrast between that and the others is what causes it to pop up as cells.

Student grade standard acrylics (Artist Loft brand) mixed with Liquitex Pouring Medium. The medium allows the acrylics to be thinned significantly without breaking the pigment bonds, and provides a smooth glossy sheen~ :)

Merci! Je n'avais fait aucune mesure dans le passé donc je n'ai pas de proportions spécifiques pour vous. Je peux dire que j'ai utilisé de la peinture acrylique mélangée à Liquitex Pouring Medium - la peinture annulaire a été mélangée pour être plus épaisse que la viscosité de coulée typique qui a créé l'effet d'ondulation. L'or était légèrement plus épais que les couleurs de la bague.
