In this video, I will show you how to use iridescent acrylic paint and the straws technique to create glittering results!
You need:
🔴 ARTEZA - Iridescent Acrylic Paint, 60ml Bottles - Set of 10 × 1:
- USA: arteza.com/products/iridescen...
- UK/EU: arteza.co.uk/dp/iridescent-ac...
- And my color-mixing-ratio for ARTEZA colors is:
- 1/5 paint + 2/5 Floetrol (I use bit.ly/Floetrol) + 2/5 water
- Here is a mixing example for a 4cl cup: 5ml color + 10 ml Floetrol + 10 ml water
🔴 Canvas: BOESNER - Gesso painting board 20x20cm (bit.ly/BOESNERGessoPaintingBoard )
🔴 Tape (I used this one: bit.ly/Tape_red)
🔴 Lasy Susan pink (I used this one: bit.ly/LasySusanPink)
🔴 Epoxy Resin - Artresin (I used this one: bit.ly/EpoxyResinARTRESIN)
🔴 Torch/ Butane gas burner (I used this one: bit.ly/ButaneGasBurner)

TIP: Warm the canvas up before pouring resin. Either by using a hot air blowdryer or sitting the canvas in the sun. Not hot, but nice and warm. Air bubbles come up faster and resin spreads nicer. I always warm my blank canvas up to remove any moisture before pouring. I live in Hawaii where it's humid, the packaged canvases need to breathe so I remove the plastic after I get them home to dry and then hit them with the blowdryer before pouring. I just kind of like it. Back in the 70's & 80's we use to make burl wood furniture, slabs of Cyprus, Walnut, Buckeye, Olive wood, etc. When the tables were ready for the finish, I used TRU-OIL, a gun stock varnish type oil. I laid it down with the edge of the palm of my hand. But before the oil, we'd take the piece from the garage to the sun for a warm-up, then back into the clean dust free garage for the oiling.

You have such lovely music playing. Then you add such awful (and LOUD!) cheering throughout the video. It’s VERY distracting and not at all enjoyable. If I hadn’t been so curious to see how the pattern came out using the straws, I would have left after the very first cheer. Please keep this i I’d with the next video you make. Thanks.

I like the final outcome, but I will use less black and more vibrant colors (maybe purple, intense blue, bright yellow and maybe teal) when I attempt it. I really liked the way you cleaned up the edges of the canvas with two coats of clean white paint. That and the shiny resin made a big difference in how the finished piece turned out - very professional. LOVELY! I’m looking forward to trying the straw technique!

I like this idea only I would paint the white sides first let it dry then put your paint on spin it let it drip over the sides as it starts to dry clean the bottom part off so that there’s not a big lump dripping down but just let it drip naturally over the sides then I would just get a can of polyurethane clearcoat and spray it boom done but I like yours as well I would just do it a little Differently😊

Carolynn Toloczko No harm or unkindness was meant, I love John’s work and think he is an incredible artist. Before I wrote my feedback, I thought about how I would feel if I posted my work online and instead of letting me know if they didn’t like something, they just stopped watching. That would definitely be worse than getting a little negative feedback. I believe that that’s what it takes to make one better. I think one of the reasons that artists of all kinds post their work is because they want feedback. Sometimes it’s negative, but I truly believe that it will help them in the long run. 🙂

Hi Debbie! You can always find my mixing ratio for the paint in the video description ( And my color-mixing-ratio for ARTEZA colors is: - 1/5 paint + 2/5 Floetrol (I use bit.ly/Floetrol) + 2/5 water ; - Here is a mixing example for a 4cl cup: 5ml color + 10 ml Floetrol + 10 ml water ) . I used about 80-100ml of epoxy resin. I didn't measure that exactly before. Greetings John

You are so clever. You always look for new ways to pour, and if you can't find one, you make one. This is such a little jewel. You are also very meticulous in your taping and finishing. You are very talented, this just shimmers like gold. I hope it sells well. God bless you. Liz 👩‍🎨🎨🍀🦓💖🇺🇸

Looks great. I see the acrylics and wonder the best place to buy in Canada? Also wondering about the resin and the weight after would it be equal to a piece of glass? Just wondering what type of hooks would be needed to hang them. Thanks
