I would get rid of one of the presure dressings and replace it with some 4x4 gauze pads and some 4 inch gauze rolls,( not all wounds require a pressure dressing) a couple of triangle bandages and a cpr face shield.

After hearing Sam’s opinion on the tourniquet selection, I think the only reason why there is a swat t and and not a cat is because of cost. To keep the kit a decent kit and still keep costs low they compensate on things like the tourniquet so they can include things like a petzl headlamp
@ThePreparedNorseman
@ThePreparedNorseman 5 жыл бұрын
@@benslauenwhite4337 An esmach bandage for a main tourniquet is really only defensible if you are guaranteed buddy aid, in my opinion. A triangular bandage with a stick for windlass is easier to apply one handed to your leg than a swat-t.

I've a couple of "non-brand" pouches the same as this and I can tell you from experience that with mine which is as stuffed as the one on review that it doesn't stay attached to the backing plate when mobile. It'll stay attached all day long when static but one you start travelling it works itself loose. Good run through on the contents. I'd definitely leave the glasses in the plastic to prevent scratching of the lens. Add a tic removal tweezers as I've found they nicely double for splinter removal too. I use the really sharp curved ones from Lifesystems. They are really cheap which means no big deal to replace.

A few things I'd add or change : Replace the flimsy emergency blanket with one from Adventure medical kits- theirs are much nicer Replace the 8 by 10 pressure dressing with Tac Meds blast bandage Replace one quick clot with a flat folded OLEATS hemostatic bandage Add North American Rescue's XL sterile burn Cravat, as it doubles as a triangular bandage Add Tac Meds RISE ( Rigid Immobilization System for Extremities) splint, as it's smaller than a SAM and it doubles as a pelvic binder. A CPR face mask A eye shield A Gerber Strap cutter.

Great video. I store my cat, sharpie, shears, and pen light on the outside saving room for more bandage on inside. However I can see how keeping those in the pack would help to keep them together.

That so looks the larger Condor pouch. I have one. I have no stitching coming out. I agree that at the size it is on the heavy side for a battle belt but on the other hand I find smaller Condor too small for stuff I carry. For heavy use it may be ok but a more casual stuff you often need at the range (like tiny bandages and tweezers to get splinter out of a finger and wilderless stuff) make the kit larger and smaller Condor is too small for my kit. Larger one has lot of empty space to spare with the stuff I have in it though. I guess my kit is 90% similar to that one (but with CAT, tweezers and a small magnifier for those nasty splinters :)

I carry a Condor pack on my duty belt, small of back. Both my handcuff pouches are positioned behind me and the pack is just wide enough to fit in between them so I don't find it sliding around too much. All the neat features make up for it, like you said, but with how my duty belt is set up I don't find it too inconvenient.

Looking at the vendor's page, it looks like a compression bandage was removed, a new tourniquet was added, and the QuikClot was changed to two options, Celox Rapid or QuikClot Combat. Seems like they took some of your advice!

FF/P is usually on scene first. Most county FD will have their own bags, gear, monitors, etc and will start treatment before the AMR medics show up. Once AMR arrives, the pt is usually loaded up and further assessed since the FD can't transport without an Ambulance (seeing as most FDs don't have a rig) and also continues to treat. A paramedic is a paramedic is a paramedic, however some will say that the FF/P may have less clinical knowledge than the AMR medic since the FF/P also has to work as a Firefighter and remember all of that. In my opinion and experience, the FF/P is usually pretty good at getting the initial ALS ABC stuff taken care (IV starts, breathing TXs, o2 administration, maybe an EKG) so that the patient is somewhat stabilized before being handed off for transport. Once they're in the back of the rig, though, the AMR medic will reassess all treatments and initiate other treatments as well as making the transport decision and monitoring the patient en route while contacting the hospital MICN. This is in my experience at least. Some counties and states vary as well and some individual FF/P and AMR medics aren't the best, but that's with any job. You'll always have your know-it-alls and your slackers.

I do not understand those american fak’s, because if someone fell and scraped his knees, you’d want to help too. I think there are too less dressings and minor wounds first aid supplies. I live in holland, where the chance of a major accident is really small, but maybe that isn’t the case in america. Anyway I think it would be nice to be able to help someone with minor wounds.

That stitching is not "coming out" it's poorly finished. Basically when they made it, they didn't cut off the working thread close enough. Given the speed of factory production this saves money...by not employing extra man hours to micro manage the cutting. It is an easy fix and doesn't damage or impact product quality.

Ever consider doing a video about building kits, and supplier reviews i.e. BoundTree, Moore Medical, even Rescue Essentials? You argue convenience, which is true for the newcomer, but people that actually get training and train with their supplies will no doubt benefit from being able to build their own kits.

Take a tampon and peel it apart. Now take a standard zfold or flat pack gauze and unfold it. You'll see an extreme difference. Not to mention the absorption factor between the 2.
@neburnynhs9394
@neburnynhs9394 5 жыл бұрын
SkinnyMedic did a really good comparison of the two items for bleeding control. In short, the amount of gauze in a tampon is the equivalent of 1 or 2 4x4 gauze pads, which for a bullet wound would not be enough, especially for a direct arterial bleed. You're better off just purchasing 4x4 gauze and using that if you planned on using a tampon.
