After watching both of these Impmon reviews, I want to ask something. Does the Japanese box ever actually refer to Beelzebumon as "Blast Mode"? I ask because the very first Beelzebumon card released was actually a seemingly scrapped design that featured the wings but otherwise none of the features of Blast Mode. It seems they decided later on to cut the wings initially and save them for a later mode change. I'm thinking the toy may have been based on that original scrapped design. It even has the middle red eye with green eyes on either side like the card (Bo-44t from Expansion Board 2 if you want to check it out on Wikimon).

Indeed, there's quite a bit of evidence that Beruzebumon was originally designed with the wings before they decided to make that his power-up form. However, I really didn't want to get into that in the review. Not to mention, it doesn't really change the fact that the toy didn't end up matching up with the on-screen counterpart, something that's rather common when it comes to toys that are designed early on during the show's conception.

@@Actar_Raikit If they actually did originally design Beelzemon to have wings by default, then I think the reason why they chose not to have him get them until later may have been partly because they wanted him to ride a motorcycle when he first debuted. Having said that, it would've been fitting for him to have wings, though, since he is one of the 7 demon lords, after all

Actually on the japanese packaging is only written beelzemon, not beelzemon blast mode. Even doe it definitly has the parts of the blast mode. So I actually think the japanese version was based on the digimon card you mentioned.

I find it hilarious that Beelzemon, one of the Seven Great Demon Lords, which are a group of seven evil Digimon that both represent the Seven Deadly Sins and the Seven Princes of Hell, ends up being one of the main heroes in both Tamers and Fusion.

@@samurexatlas7373 Still though, Beelzemon is based on Beelzebub, the Lord of the Flies as well as being another name for Satan, and he represents the Sin of Gluttony. Not that I'm complaining. After all, Beelzemon is one of my all-time favorite Digimon. Primarily his Tamers' version. The Fusion version of Beelzemon was a bit too Try-Hard with the large amount of armor he had. Plus, I just plain don't like Digimon Fusion at all.

The figure does look bad from the back, but that (in my opinion) is more so because of his wings being Impmon's face being split in 2 than anything else. Other than that, though, the figure looks great in Beelzemon mode. It's honestly funny to see how much better the American version is than the original Japanese release of the toy; knowing Actar, I'm surprised to see him admit that the American version is better, but it's pretty clear looking at the 2 side by side which one is superior

Impmon:Annoying as hell digimon but has potential. Beelzemon:Killed Leomon and was an asshole. Beelzemon Blast mode:.....DUDE HE DEVELOPED! And I STILL hear Beelzemon's screams to save Juri. As for the figure well to quote Actar:THEY GAVE HIM HIS SECOND PAIR OF WINGS!!!!! Cool statue but better then the Japanese version shockingly.

Whoa, there was an official Ai and Mako Purple D-ark!? Am gonna make do with a repairing a Ryo Akiyama Blue/Silver one and repaint it to have one(making a safe dye for the rubber buttons is gonna be fun hahaha...) for myself; but awesome that they were around! Still, appreciate the bluntly candid review. Even though us NA fans got the better Digivolving Impmon/Beezlemon seemingly, it was this one that made me start to give up on Digimon toys as a kid. Beezlemon looks good but that statue-like limited articulation, was a real disappointment as a kid even so. A little bit after the show ended its run, my part of Ontario, Canada got the Digi-Warrior figures(along with the WAY late and immediately clearanced NA D-Arks which was blessing in its own way...); and the Beezlemon in that line was all I really wanted. Never picked up a Digivolving toys after that, and barely paid attention to the Frontier toys as a result I think which was a shame...

Hi Actar, I don't think this figure requires any parts forming at all. His midsection spins around once extended, so they can form his secondary wings in Beelzemon mode or Impmon's ears.

It does, but in my experience when I used to own this figure, it was difficult to do. It was fairly cumbersome trying to maneuver them so that the ears that turned into Beelzemon's second pair of wings don't pop off, which always annoyed me about this figure

I think that the balance issues could've been prevented entirely or at least alleviated if they had the sense to include elbows & knees for the Beelzemon mode. And maybe better feet, too - those don't look very flat or stable. 🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️

the transformations seems to not allow any leg articulation unless they redesigned the thighs and impmon arms in a way a little forward and back would become possible, not sure what you mean by elbows but they could've sprung for a swivel above the elbows since nothing is stopping them from adding it there from the looks of it

I'm pretttttttty sure it doesn't require parts-forming. I think that the location the tail plugs into on Beelzemon-mode actually rotates all the way around and fits in the gap on the lower part of Beelzemon's jacket in Impmon-mode. I can't test my memory for sure as my copy is DEEP in storage and not easy to get to. But if you find that I am remembering correctly, I would appreciate if you let me know. Just want to know if my memory is correct. P.S. The way his blaster fits on his arm is one of the most satisfying attachments in all of Digimon AND Transformers toys. *chef's kiss*
