She was diagnosed with pre-nodules & was advised by her Dr to rest her voice for 2 months. Many singers go through that. There are more serious things happening to Gigi & get band. They were doing non-stop gigs for 2 months in the provinces. They got into a vehicular accident & she & some of the band members sustained minor injuries. They decided to perform after the accident & Gigi almost collapsed on stage. This was going to be the 2nd to the last gig they were going to do b4 she was supposed to rest.

After that, she was scammed & her bank account containing the money she saved up to pay for medical expenses for her mom who has stage 4 cancer, was depleted. She's now selling & bidding her clothes & things on FB & some fans are making fun of her. Some people are just cruel. Please pray for her, her mom & the band members.

She does mostly ballads but has done a few rock alternative type of songs, but this is the 1st time she's done something almost metal-goth. It's amazing bc by this performance alone, it looks as if she's been doing this genre her whole life. She really is indeed very versatile.

Thanks for your great insights! You vocalized perfectly a lot of the things that I wanted to say about this performance. I have only seen the original song by Sam Smith aside from this video, mainly because I wanted to see how it was originally performed. I've heard that a lot have attempted to interpret this song in their own way to the point that it became so overplayed and every other every other video was almost the same as the previous one. Gigi's interpretation really stood apart and above from even the original because, as you observed, she was fearless in showing the sensuality and darkness that the song conveyed - even without the props. Gigi has the knack for picking out the correct emotion to attach to every word or phrase with focused precision. This is very consistent in every performance she gets into. She's always in the "moment" of the song. I look forward to more of your reactions to Gigi's covers. Some notables (from so many) I can recommend are: "All I Ask" (Adele), "I'm Not the Only One" (Sam Smith), "Officially Missing You" (Tamia).
