Toy companies also do second and third runs on figures so the market has plenty. And in 20 years time will the new Generation want any of this stuff if they're only interested in Video games. Plus look at the 90s action figures so mass produced you can get most for the price they were!! adjusted for inflation of course.👍

Great video again, I'm guilty too, but I buy because I enjoy the figure, not for value, who cares when you die, it won't matter. Yeah, your right only the very old 2010 to 2014 pops are worth money, the rest go up and down like a dying man's heartbeat. But when funko goes under or the fade goes away, which I see signs it is. All those high price ones will plumet. You guys rock always :)

I totally agree with your assessment. I fell for that paying for more than I should have for a Blue Chrome Batman. It is now in the mid 300's. Much less than I paid. On the other hand I got a DC collectible for cost and now am amazed at the prices it's fetching. Sometimes it's a crap shoot.

So much wisdom on this video. Some great points. MOTU or GI Joe's might be popular now for us adult collectors. But the collectors 20 years from now would not care about any of that stuff. They would look for Fortnite or Minecraft collectibles. The toys they grew up with

Oh is that why ebay sellers are asking for ludacris amounts now? New restrictions? I still find deals but asking prices are getting stupid. I dont know who the heck is paying these prices.. for stuff that came out 2 months ago...

Right again it's getting crazy 😜. I remember going to a toy auction in town they have it every Saturday after Thanksgiving. Well that day we went to the train museum and took a ride and saw all the decorations with the kids. I asked my wife can we stop and check out the toy auction she said ok we can. Well when we went in I saw the one thing I wanted to bid on. The mego Flintstones playset in the box and complete. I told her I have to bid on this I told her trust me this is very hard to find. Well she said fine u know what u are doing 😏 🤪 I hope better not spend a lot she said. Well I won the auction got that for $86.00. Now this is back in 2005 I was so 😊 then she said got it to make money right well yes but not right away. I put it up on ebay back then it was a lot better u could make money. I sold it for $1,234 to a guy in Japan who loved it as a kid and was hoping to find one again. U know till this day I have not seen one at all we did are hole Christmas shopping and more with just selling that. It was nice to have today I wish I still had it do u remember that toy.

Lots of discounts around on toys at moment because of lines people don’t want to store for profit. Some Lego lines are 25% off as people are starting to realise it might not make big profits in the future if everyone is putting it in storage.

Last June (around the 20th I think), I was in WA state and decided to go to a Target (Northgate)....I was on the phone with a friend that dragged on a little too long, and by the time I got off, and went to the toy section, this 55 yo guy was there holding his basket with the Rise of Evil 2 pack in it, I thought damn....if I wasnt on the phone and made a bee line here that would be mine....anyways, an employee came around the corner and asked him if he found what he was looking for....he slowly pulled the ROE out of his basket and remember seeing this huge grim on his face and he said to the employee "This is very rare".....I was bummed....but now look you cant give those things away, went to a Target in VA yesterday and there was 20 of them....That thing was a FOMO for sure.....wonder how the guy feels thinking he got a super rare item which turned out to be plentiful now....I never bothered to get one cause the hype is over....these days I try not to get anything new anymore, I hunt at thrift stores and its way funner, cause its older type items and you never know what you may find....here's another thought....with all the talk about artifiical demand and supply constriction....think about all those container ships sitting off the coast, I guarantee you toys are on those ships, and I think that has alot to do with limited supply....eventually those ships with unload their cargo and that stuff will make it to target and walmart and you see tons of things, only reason they were "rare" is cause they were sitting on a container ship somewhere....Im starting to see alot of peg warmers on things that people said were hard to find, and once those collectors get theirs either through a show or ebay, and the stock comes in on those ships, those hard to find items will just sit on the shelf...so be careful everyone.... Just a thought, everyone have a nice day.

Funny how you make this video on this topic , I was going through this for awhile with the MOTU origins power con exclusives 2021 . I place pre orders on them when they first dropped then I was like yeah baby I got the exclusives . But as time went on kept ponding . Why do I need another faker and repainted battlecat and the high price and etc , anyhow at the end of the day . I made decision and cancelled my pre orders and I feel so much better now! I still have moments where I want to buy for rarety or "this could be worth something" but I've mostly stopped FOMO. I have limited space so it has to be better than what I have to switch out or fall into the specific series I've narrowed down to. Im also not a vintage collector so it being worth something is really volatile in the long run anyway esp with Funko and them "vaulting but not really" pops making with updated more popular molds.

Great video. I collect what i like and not what’s “trending” or with that “it’ll be worth thousands in the future” delusional mindset. I never impulse buy. I have a list of what i’m chasing and that’s it. I collect for me and me only. Collecting is a hobby for me not an addiction that needs to be fed. The word “exclusive” is simply just a marketing term used to move product….well, try to anyway. I don’t invest in toys. I brought property in the ‘90s for that.

@@OpenByChance i don’t believe they’re “collecting” as such but more like “amassing” based on speculation and banking on the FOMO some collectors have to make a buck. If you don’t purchase what you like/love then why do it? Nostalgia drives my collecting BUT there is a line in the sand where nostalgia stops and the “Nope. Don’t need two of the same figure even though it’s (cough) “new”” kicks in. I’ve always been one to control my hobby and not the other way around.

I remember seeing an ebay listing of the NECA Turtles in Disguise 4 pack which at retail was $125 and the picture was just 4 of them in a Target shopping bag. They didn't even pretend about what they just did. I see that more often now where they literally take the pic in the freaking store as they are checking out. The best decision I made was reducing my collection and only buying what I really love and learning to ignore all the other lines as there is just too much out these days and trying to get it all is a waste of time, energy and money. It takes a lot of will power but in the end it is worth it to just buy what you truly love, not what looks cool or is trending.

I've seen some auctions like that, with the figure sitting on the passenger seat of a car or something like that. It's like, "c'mon dude, at least get home before your listing"!

Great video with solid advice, I definitely recently did a big FOMO dumb with the MOTU Origins Rise of Evil two pack. I live in Canada and was told these would never be coming here, so I waited it out to find a somewhat affordable one on Ebay. Unfortunately after taxes, shipping, import fees and the taxi ride I had to take from work to pick it up off my front porch, as it was delivered before it was supposed to be and porch thefts are high in my area, I was looking at a grand total of about $120CDN or about $90 US. Literally the next week the market was flooded with them and I could have gotten one for a third of that price. Then 2 weeks after that my local comic and toy shop got some in for $40CDN. I am still trying to get the MOTU Origins Orko from wave one as its the only one I don't have, but I have now promised myself to not pay anything over retail for it. I truly appreciate your advice on all this and wish you and LPH all the best.

Yeah, sometimes you just have to set a limit on what you're willing to spend. (Which I admit isn't always easy)!
