Hasbro figures in the past couple years have this weird restriction at the butterfly joints where the shoulder peg is too long and locked inside the torso… it’s an easy enough mod to pop the arms out, trim the pegs and get way more range- but we shouldn’t _have_ to do that

They even started adding this to the pizza Spider-Man body. I niticed it with Ice-Man from the 3 pack, then i realised that my Big Time one wasn't faulty like i assumed, it just had this "feature" all theese years.

For me I don't think either of these quite nail my mind's eye of the Tobey Maguire suit, but my mind's eye is of his look back in the early 2000's and not his NWH look, which even then was CG most of the time he had his mask on. In that sense these both may be pretty accurate in their own ways, but of the two the SHF version I feel is closer. The darker colours, the paint quality, contrast with the webbing, and the head especially I think wins out. The narrower shape of the masked head I think is much more in-line with Tobey's Spider-Man, the Marvel Legends one looks too blown up and stretched out. The only thing its missing compared to my mental image is he's less broad than he was in the 2000's, but I get why that is.

The legends Tobey is really a great example of how terrible the design team at Hasbro is at the moment. It’s like they have no idea what they’re doing. Somebody needs to enroll Dwight in a human anatomy class. And if that’s too much to ask for, have him watch No Way Home at least ONCE. Looks like they never even saw the movie. Tobey didn’t look like a melted snowman in the movie. It has no definition to it. You had two years to get it done right and THAT is what you gave us for $30+??? They’re not going to convince me that you care about the community when they rip us off like this. And we’re not even talking about articulation and accessories. It’s fucking Spider-Man, the most popular super hero of all time, and they can’t be bothered to make him articulate right or give him better accessories. Legends is by far the worst action figure line on the market right now and it’s a shame.

But realistically it's 90 dollars because you can't buy this separately so you have to pay 90 dollars wether you want the 2 other figures or not. Also this piece of crap ain't worth 30 dollars, I can tell you that much. Look at Neca or Jada toys and what they're offering for 30 dollars or less and you'll see the ripoff. Hasbro missed with their version of Tobey unfortunately; only through extensive modding and customization will the figure be good. On the other hand, I'm glad that the SHF Tobey scales not too bad with Marvel Legends despite being from a different brand known to be shorter.

I haven’t owned hasbro’s tobey so idk but from everything i have seen of it, feels a bit underwhelming ? They got the base down i think but the execution just seems kinda poor. They could’ve added toe joints since this and andrew are new molds also maybe give a neck hinge then ball joint so you can get them all looking more up. I do also think the deco just doesn’t represent well. Feel like they went with more of a video game or comic style then live action if that makes sense. SHF is no perfect either but they got the articulation, accessories and deco down to a t. Yes your paying way more but think your getting what you should get from this version of spidey so to me SHF is the winner.

I don't think the Marvel Legends is a bad toy by any means, price aside. But, it also convinced me to take the plunge and buy the S.H. Figuarts version and I do not regret it in the least.

In most figures I own (including mafex spider-man) drop down hips add nothing or almost nothing to articulation, that jada toys fei long figure has been proving what you need to have the best articulation setup possible and it doesn't have any cut on the back of the neck or drop down hips

Be smart about it. Despite being cheaper, I think the ML one just isn't worth it. You're actually paying premium price for a Hasbro figure and it barely comes with any accessories and the sculpt, colors, and everything about it looks off. So just because it's cheaper than SHF, doesn't mean you're getting your money's worth. Everyone always brings up the SHF thigh thing, but man gotta say y'all missing out big time. Assuming the ML Tobey gets a single release, i'd rather save the $30, wait until I have the extra $60, and buy the SHF one! That $60 really makes all the difference in the world. Just eat that $90 and you'll get the best representation sculpt wise, articulation wise, and accessories wise for a Tobey Spidey ever. It's a one and done payment and you know you're getting a better figure in every way. This may possibly be the last time we ever get a classic Tobey Spider Man too. Unless you're just not that into Tobey's version or may struggle saving up for it, then sure the Hasbro one is your only option. But i'd feel burned if I paid $33+ for that. SHF has a much superior sculpt (just look at his mask!), much better articulated Spidey (cause if ANY figure needs good articulation, it's Spidey), 2 interchangeable heads, 6 pairs of hands, 2 small webs, 2 medium webs, 1 swinging web, and even a folded mask he can hold! The ML one just by looking at it looks so cheap. His web lines should be raised and gunmetal grey, not flat and bright silver. Hasbro is actually robbing people here. Their Andrew one does look good though however. Otherwise hate to say it, but any fan of Tobey's Spidey is doing themselves a disservice by getting the ML one. You may feel great saving the extra money now, but down the line you're probably gonna not feel that way especially when Tobey's Spidey are a thing of the past.

I have to agree with you on the S.H.F Hip Articulation, it looks hideous, it's even worse on their Anime Characters like Vegeta for example, it makes it look like he has Love Handles that are being pinched by the bodysuit

I usually collect ML, but the 3 pack sucks. It's too expensive for what it is. The reused and innacurate Tom Holland, no faces for any spidey and the bad painted Tobey. Just for this one time I went for the SH Figuarts and I love it! I'm seriously thinking on buying the other 2 or at least the Andrew one.

I own both! The final battle Tom is a great underrated figure but since you’re leaning more towards the Andrew figure, I have to let you know that a few issues with Andrew is the no alternate head (obviously) and his shoulder articulation feels a bit limited compare to Tom and Tobey. His neck is a bit long but it’s not as bad people make it seem to be in my opinion. Despite the issues, It’s still an Amazing figure. Worth the pickup!

Not a bad video but i think it's veey obviously that the SH Figurarts Tobey spiderman is just the better option The marvel legends is on a 3 pack of mediocre action figures with poor articulation, no unmasked heads and don't look as good i understand how you feel about the crotch area on figuarts but I think for the sake of articulation, I think it's amazing. The Toei/Japanese spiderman has more or less the same design and it has some of the best articulation I've ever seen on a figure. Also with how they designed it, it gives you full front and back splits due to the butt area being part of the leg articulation, rather than being part of the diaper piece and hindering its range

For me there still hasn't been a definitive Tobey spidey for my money. One stand out is that the head shape of the SHF is just miles better. Honestly though, I'd almost rather the Toybiz if I had one already. Both look too frumpy from what my mental image. And boy do I hate the modern Hasbro articulation. The ball neck, reversed torso-crunch combo. It's just such a weird mess that doesn't pose like I need it to.

From what mafex has shown, that might be my definitive tobey spidey. Look it up, they released an unpainted prototype and the proportions, and sculpt look amazing. I can’t wait for another reveal but with paint this time, but time will tell if mafex has the ability to cook.

Hasbro's Toby is too chubby and the boots aren't high enough, SHF same issue with the boots and they can't seem to give up the thong look, I'ma wait for MAFEX or another third party for my go to TOBY. I mean they have their own merits to be fair. ML's spidey is good as it is. Purchasing it on its own (I think there are people selling the figures on 3 pack individually), I think it is still viable. The SHF are for collectors and or people who grew up watching Tobey and don't want to spare any expenses which I think is rewarded with the level of articulation, details and accessories. Different price points for different demographics but all in all everybody wins.

I disagree with the scale thing. Shf Tobey looks horrible with a lot ML figures. The height isn’t necessarily what kills it, it’s just proportion wise he’s smaller also.

I was honestly surprised at how bad this Tobey spidey figure turned out because yeah people rightfully shit on hasbro figures but when hasbro tries they actually release some great figures and I was assuming they would do that for this figure. To me they tried too hard to make it look like an actual person in a suit and it turned out looking wonky, the colors are off for no reason and the head sculpt looks bad. If they came out with a Tobey spidey as good as the Garfield spidey it would have done a lot of good for hasbro as far as how they are being viewed as a company but instead they charge $30 for each fig make you buy a tom holland figure nobody wanted and drop the ball on the Tobey figure. 🤦🏻

Hasbro had a year to realize the shoulder was too low and small, thigh is sausage looking and the feet is ridiculously large, but nope there is NO ONE at Hasbro ML team that said anything on how bad the proportion is. The paint, I get it... it's a cheap figure, but rest of it if you are making a brand new figure, why the hell would you not actually check the make sure it looks right? also the butterfly not working on the ML is just bad engineering or simply lack of engineering. How do you not know the butterfly on your figure doesn't work as how it is cut out before you release the figure? Don't get me wrong, I do have ML movie figures like Wolverine, Cable, Iron Monger, Vulture, Crossbone, etc. BUT shit... it's like the sculptors half the time doesn't know what they're doing and there's literally no one that tells them shit is looking off and then the marketing team and higher ups doesn't care as long as makes money.

Also, about the neck joint, I think you're wrong 😅. It doesn't need additional joints in the neck. Hasbro's implementation is wrong, they almost always make the peg rests way too deep in the socket so it's hindered by the neck itself. The correct way to do it is you need to make the ball rests a lot higher on the neck so the peg isn't hindered by anything, like pretty much every japanese action figure compared did.

I loved the sh figuarts spider man Tobey maguire figure. And in my opinion of course the sh figuarts spider man Tobey maguire he looks nostalgic of the oldest movies spider man 2, and spider man 3. And the new marvel legends figure 3 pack Tobey maguire he looks good but it's not my favorite OK I loved by the way but it's not my favorite. And the winner is the sh figuarts spider man Tobey maguire.
