Consider putting the almost due pregnant mamas in a pasture closer to the barn when the temperatures start to get too hot ... So you can check on them more often and maybe provide more shade. And maybe keep them close for a few days after the red dogs come and then return them to the main herd. I know you're always saying their social, so I'm thinking 10 or so in the maternity pasture at a time. 💖🌞🌵😷

1:25 put the chicken feed on the dirt, they will scratch up the dirt and get some air in those bald spots, add a little poop, and maybe plant a seed or two. If you feed on the grass, they're just tearing up the grass. 💖🌞🌵😷
@Marilou-g5t11 ай бұрын
They may also harvest some bugs, beetles, slugs or worms from the grass.
@prarieborn645811 ай бұрын
Good luck with getting anything to grow where you feed the chickens. they can scratch & eat a new patch of green down to bare dirt in a few hours. Dusty’s chickens have access to pasture all around, but they seem to stay around the barn to run for shelter from hawks etc.
@Marilou-g5t11 ай бұрын
@@prarieborn6458 i had zero issue with chickens ruining my yard. Perhaps, when the soil is healthy and grasses are well rooted the grass can withstand a llittle scratching. I had about 200 chickens in 2/3 of an acre.

I love watching men do stuff like pulling that truck and hay trailer out of the mud. All that power in the tractor and skid steer.. such handy rigs and storng men to have around. There is nothing worse than having a couple of tons of iron stuck in your pasture, or back yard or somewhere far away from home. As a Grandma, “i don’t know nuthing” about machinery. . It is an awful helpless feeling. The local county code enforcers require any vehicle on rural property to be in running condition and licensed, or “under repair” ie up on blocks over a raised gravel “bed’ Very enjoyable video.❤

I never in my 71 yrs thought I’d be fascinated by bison herd , but I just love the updates on the herds . I’m a more city born and raised so not like I ever lived on a farm. My husband was raised on milking cow farms in PA but I had never been to a farm until I started dating his friend , then him. I love history , always have so I think that trying to bring these native animals back to help environment, as the wolves have done is great ….so frustrating that “humans “ have to destroy the habitats then the animals before they realize there are links to everything
