I'm hoping to complete the home farm hedge cutting today, there is only about six hours worth left, then I'm going to try and catch our phantom dog poo bag chucker.

I love listening to you waffling 😂 you make sense… I understand what you’re saying … as a retired nurse having mentored many student nurses, the grass isn’t always greener and the romantic vision isn’t a reality. It’s bloody hard relentless work with little to no gratitude. Thanks Ian, we do appreciate your hard work 😊

Hi Ian, as a person who started in agriculture and then went into building and now recently taking on a farm I understand all the issues and challenges of owning land and farming brings especially when you take your family into consideration I’d like to think that my son or one of my daughters would take it on but I suspect that it’s unlikely so like you I’ll just be the custodian of our farm until I retire or I’m to old to do it.👍

There is a time in early life when your future is a long road ahead; You, like me, have reached the age of post ambition, when you can see the road ending and time is limited. The most important thing is to do what you want to do with you and yours. It doesn't mean you lose ambition just need to prioritise. I have a ridiculous plan for Anitas next birthday but it's a big secret. Will let you know on July 26th, but I know you would love it.

Hi Farmer P, personally I would love the farmer life, I hate city life, dislike people, hate socialising, love my own space, love nature, love the countryside, if I had the financial means I would definitely go for that way of life, it appeals to me a lot, if ever you want an apprentice I would jump at the chance.

Thinking about your legacy while headgear trimming can be a little melancholy. I, also, do hope you’re around for a while. As for what the future holds, we can always hope for good things, but we’ll never know till the time comes. Will you post pictures of the 💩 chucker? That’d be fun.

My family run a market garden in N. Wales, they found it hard to sell produce. The local market closed and so fruit and veg had to be trucked to Liverpool, supermarkets pay low sell high, also on two for one offers they want the extra one given them. The family opened a shop and that has worked, but keeping it open takes planning for staff.

Celebrated Vietnams TET new year yesterday, last night was bl--dy cold had to put the inside of the duvet on the bed. Wearing a long sleeve rugby shirt the first time for ages, but I'm not complaining as it's great living here in a communist country. The police have a zero tolerance on drink driving, road laws are governed by cameras much like the UK. There's a 20 min queue to see a doctor, hospital treatment is good and it's instant. It's not free as in UK but not waiting and taking pain killers for 3 months just to get a simple op done is well worth the money. The climate has cured my asthma, fresh guava juice from the garden has my cholesterol under control. I just wonder what else the labour party has in mind for OAP's. Ian you have a busy life and your morning plans for work that day seam rarely to work out, your hedge trimming work has been interrupted so many times its left it's mark across the fields. I can see why you don't want to do the odd bits. I think you make yourself a bit to handy to call by for coffee, and I just called by several years back so I'm guilty of not pre-booking as it were. I do enjoy watching your vids, to see the UK weather that I'm glad I'm missing. So thanks for that. I hope you catch the poo slinger. Reminds me of the farmer I worked for, he got fed up with lovers parking in his gateways and throughing used Johny's out the window. So he hung them on the gate for all to see.

This will be long.... Run the farm as a business. Figure out away for the farm to be self sustaining. Explore options to increase income and decrease costs. Make each kid co owner before you pass. Any child that works on the farm they earns income that either is paid out to them or is paid out to the other family members that increases their share. If you setup how the farm is transferred to your kids now it would be better then leaving it for them to figure out because the only option is to sell the farm. Plus, they will not know how much the farm earns and how much it costs to own. Each of them like the lifestyle of the farm and will at some point miss it but then it will be to late. They need to see how the farm could stay together until you find a relative that would like to own it all. When they have to deal with the farm they may be self sufficient and not need the money from the sale of the land. But if its like an investment they could continue to operate it that way for a long time.

one of my daughters lives down by outer london ring road, she called up and told missus that her ipad keeps breaking and the store said its not broken, so she volunteered me to go down and go with her, i wasnt too keen but i went down for a 2 hr drive each way and i looked at her and said get me her ipad, she grabbed it and she was going on about it telling me she tried it several times after she got home and we then drove to store, they said they dont need to fix it as its not broken... and they showed us it working, i then looked at her and i thought to myself she cant be this dumb on ipads, i asked the guy if he had some scissors and he gave me a pair and i grabbed her finger and snipped off the nail, i then told her you have to touch the pad with your f-ing finger not her fake nail...
