The 90's and early 2000's did see a large amount of Disney games, and they range from absolute classic, to hidden gem, and Hercules looks as though it fits somewhere in the middle of the two. Also, I might just be a little biased with Disney's Hercules as I have this bias towards anything released in 1997, for reasons that may be a bit obvious.
@decadentgamer31082 жыл бұрын
Right. I think that at the time, the most notable ones were Toy Story 2 and Aladdin if I'm not mistaken. I remember being a kid in the mid to late 90s and I would always hear those being talked about the most.

That PS1 game really takes me back. I too got stuck on the first training level b/c of the damn 2.5 gameplay. I was dum dum kid back then, and thought the game was just a 2D side scroller, not going into 2.5D. Never finished the game fully b/c I admittedly played the game on Easy. I was not just a dum dum, but a sissy in games. Always chose easy over normal back then.

I remember playing this so much as a kid it was my first ever game for the ps1 and i was stuck forever on the centaur forest and imagine my surprise when i get to the titan flight level and beating it only to go back to the home screen and then finding out years later you have to play on medium difficulty to play the whole game

Hate to be the one to do comparisons, but I am actually positively suprised that this was in a very good way a huge deviation from JonTron's video about Hercules games long time ago. Actually focusing on the Disney movie and the games tied to it was really good choice, unlike in JonTron's video where, mostly due to the nature of that video, both the PS1 and the GB game were addressed briefly with lot of comedy. Perhaps enough to make it a fault of some sorts, as it can miss the point of an actual review. That being said, I think this will be the Hercules game review I'll be returning more on later date for deeper analyzis. After having rewatched some of your older content for past few weeks, without even knowing for sure when SEJ will come back with another GREAT review, and all I can say that your skills both as a critic and a content creator have grown immensely since the early days. Still ever so entertaining to watch and listen, while getting a great point of view to games we all love or hate, or hate to love or love to hate. Keep up the good work mate!
@SquareEyedJak2 жыл бұрын
That really means a lot dude, cheers! Jontron's Hercules episode was the first video of his I ever saw and while it's a classic, it does really bum me out when so many creators take shortcuts by not covering an entire game. As a result, there is a lot he missed out on in both titles that could've led to so many more excellent comedy bits. Glad it's appreciated and recognized though, I'm trying my best to be the counter to that by going into depth and I have plans for more movie related content in the future. 😊

Good review. That intro is an impressive step up for sure. Don't think I've seen the movie and never played the game. Only Disney licensed games I have I had as a kid but not picked up others since as usually prefer original games than licenses. But they are Lilo and Stitch Trouble in Paradise which is an ok Crash clone I barely played but did in 1 sitting one day and beat it in a few hours. I can't beat Crash games but I can this basic Crash clone. Along with the much better (at least as far as I know PS1 version over PS2 port), of Monsters Inc Scare Island (never played the actual tie in movie game only the sequel/second one related to the license). Scare Island besides Scaler surprised me of Behaviour/A2M's capabilities of safe or decent licensed or in Scaler or Wet's case their original games. Love replaying Scare Island from time to time just like Spyro trilogy or Gran Turismo 1&2 out of the very little PS1 games I have.

Ahhh it's so nice to see a new review from you, it's been 50 years lol. On a serious note, I was so surprised to hear you didn't watch the movie until you were in your late teens but only because I remember it was kinda popular with kids way back in the day and if I remember correctly, you said you were born in 1996 but then again, perhaps the movie's acclaim died down in the mid 2000s because it was one of the Disney Renaissance classics that didn't get a sequel compared to Beauty & The Beast, Mulan, and The Lion King to name a few. Nonetheless, glad to hear that you enjoyed the movie when you got around to it an appreciated all the artistic direction that went into it. Seeing this video really makes me want to re-watch the movie because I haven't seen it in such a long time lol Anyway, I remember you talking about this game a bit in one of your top 10s and I was curious to see more of your thoughts on it in a review. I never played it myself because I've always had this thing where I never played licensed games because I hardly if ever enjoy them. But I will agree with you that it's very cool how many ideas they put into the game like experimenting with 2D to 2.5D backgrounds and making sure the player felt powerful playing as Herc himself. The Gameboy port though... Wow what a hot mess LOL We salute you for your efforts playing through it haha. Anyway great review, totally looking forward to more to come because honestly I've missed them so much ☺️

So im leaving this message here for Jak not as anything bad but some things ive picked up up on recent times and a response to Jaks mention via Twitter regarding this videos performance. first thing thier seems to be a slow down on videos being outputted but im very well aware of real life situations that Jak has made public so i dont begrudged on that front, but i do believe a slowdown has maybe caused some to move on, the game testing videos are fine but i believe they need to be not a main focus and more of a side video alongside main videos. I do think the rank every level videos are great cant fault that. second thing ive noticed and this might be me and a subjective thing is the magic of Jak seems to be missing, some of the great videos did feature i guess i would call cut away gags or random gags rather then just sat on a sofa, again i understand real life things may have stopped this but just a note i picked up on. The Hawktober series although in its right is great i think is now at the end of its life and feels abit scrapping the barrel territory . i did mention via Twitter about maybe introducing a new series featuring wrestling games, you have a whole pool of content thier and i did think of a name of "WWember" a spin on the name and December i guess pronounced and said "W W E EMBER" maybe a crap idea but im know creative lol, maybe Jak could dress as a different wrestler per video a bit like when he did Macho Man but maybe keep to more basic outfits if cost is a factor. might be an idea but thats for Jak to decide on. im not complaining about Jak i love Jaks videos and think they are some of the best comedy gold here, im just giving honest feedback on what i see, keep up the good work Jak :)

In kingdom hearts i remember being dissapointed by the world of Hercules being, well in the state that its in actually but the fight with Cloud was amazing on top of everyone else. Except that final one i don't know the name of because i never was interested in final fantasy. Anyway i was just wishing for more of an actual level here like in all the rest so i cnould platform and explore but its still a great place to test stuff out and its inclusion was more than apprieciated. I only played the PS1 game briefly from an age where my memory wasn't there yet so idk how long ago but i got stuck on that tree you also got stuck and never played again lol.
