Notes: 1. The "1962 Herschey" had "1 bonus free throw" at "zero fouls." That was quickly changed. 2. Duane Dillard is actually "Dwaine Dillard." Made a quick change in the game and his mug shot came up with his face and "Globetrotters" jersey - a team he played for prior to and after his stint with the Stars. 3. Thanks for watching! 🏀🏀🏀

May not seem entertaining at times, but when you have Andrew Toney, down by 6 w/ no timeouts, hit a 3 with 6 seconds left vs Boston, then steal the inbound pass, and hit a 3 to send it to overtime….love this game.

I understand how the clock runs down (quickly) within the final 30 seconds of each quarter. Must work more strategically to make certain I get off those game winning or game tying shots. Cheers! 🏀

Thanks for the praise, TheGoldeagle99. There is one "dksports-data" folder (then hit "basketball") then hit that has individual folders for "Player Photos," "Team Logos," Arenas," "Courts" and "Arenas," among other things. Images placed in the "Player Photos" folder typically have to be in a certain format (like "Bob_Weiss"). Then you must go to that league's folder you need him for and go to "Organize" and then "League Tools." Then you go to the "Player Photo Tools" on that page and (in this example) check the "Default Photo Names - First_Last" box. Then hit the "Default Photo Names" button and you should be all set on the images you loaded into the player photos file. Good luck! 🏀

One thing I didn’t realize, when I was replaying an ABA season until late was that they didn’t have foul outs. I believe once you got your 6th foul, every foul thereafter was treated like a bonus, 2 shots, and I think the shooting team got possession of the ball. Not sure, but have to double check that
@redfanrod
@redfanrod Жыл бұрын
True. The ABA of 75-76 (and maybe 74-75 as well) had the "no foul out" rule. What an interesting rule. I wonder how often those situations occurred over the last two (or more) ABA seasons. Have a good one. 🏀

The more I play it, the more I'd think I'd enjoy Replay Basketball's computer game than the cards and dice. So many moving parts, a little bit like Inside the Paint. So many "checks" (assists, fouls, rebounds and many more) need to be made in the card and dice versions of these games. 🏀

Look for Steve Tate’s KZbin channel. Great stuff. He’s been working on “3-yr slice” file for a long time that I don’t believe he’s shared publicly yet. He literally takes the a 3-yr slice, which are consecutive, from a franchise, and averages out the entire roster, using only players that played ample time during that 3-yr slice. His baseball file is outstanding. He would probably gladly share his basketball file with you

Check your settings. Usually the season is preset. I made the mistake of changing it based on what I thought was appropriate and my stats were way off. That may explain the unordinary number of shots taken, if you changed the era settings from factory default

I'm just getting into the game, and I sure wish the play by play had a way to change the voice. I'm pretty sure Microsoft Voice has a way to change the pitch to ones liking.
@redfanrod
@redfanrod Жыл бұрын
Good point, Felix. I've been able to change the narrator/broadcaster voice to one of two default voice options within the Windows interface. Using "Setup" followed by "Game Preferences" and the "Graphics and Sound" tab, there is a "Microsoft Narrator" section. Within that section is a "Voice" option. Currently, mine has one "male" (David) and one "female" (Zira) voice. Neither voice is all that great. Microsoft has issued some superior voices in recent years but I can't seem to get them to appear within the Action! PC setup menus. If anyone can figure that one out I encourage that person to share the information. Cheers! 🏀

@@redfanrod Thank you Rod. Appreciate the info. By the way, i don't have an option in my settings to change the voice. It's either the female voice or just the pbp text.
@redfanrod
@redfanrod Жыл бұрын
@@felixmadison5736 You might need to install the female voice in Windows (Zira). Like I said, there are about 3-4 newer voices in Microsoft's library that are even better than these. However, the Action! PC software doesn't seem to recognize them. I'm going to keep working on this.

Good to hear from you, randomhuman. I'm not all that experienced with Action! PC's settings so I continue to experiment with them. I think the game flows best without the narrator calling the points, fouls and rebounds but it's a work in progress for the perfect setting. 🏀

Hi Rod. I just completed a project using the 81-82 college and NBA seasons. The NBA was really fun and generated, for me, realistic results. IMO the game engine for college doesn’t adequately take into account HCA (I had a couple of head scratchers). The set up and reports are very well done & I found easy to use. But I’m just not sure a closed engine is for me as anything other than a score/stat generator?
@redfanrod
@redfanrod Жыл бұрын
Great points and good to hear from you, Larry. I'm not a huge PC game player. Action! PC is a great stat generator and I'm generally a fan of stats, so it touches on my love for accurate game stats. The game play is average but is a bit more animated than Hoops PC, which does a good job of showing off player cards during game play. I do like Action! PC's ability to allow you to add (free) home brewed seasons and add player photos, team logos, arenas and colorful full and half courts for game plays. It's definitely an affordable alternative, although I enjoy the physical cards and dice best, of course. Cheers!

@redfanrod
@redfanrod Жыл бұрын
The best resource to get player photos and even some NCAA courts is at the Action! PC community page here: apcsportscommunity.com/#/basketball-content-images 🏀 My favorite file on this page is the "Pro Basketball Photos All Seasons" at the bottom of this page. It has virtually all player photos from about 1940 thru 2019. It is great. Courts can be found way at the bottom of this page (under "Action! PC Basketball" section): www.sportsreplays.net/downloads5.htm Good luck with your customizations. That's part of the fun of playing the game! 🏀

How are the accuracy on the rebounds working out? Within the last year, I either watched a KZbin video or read somewhere, that someone played out a late 70's season and some players rebounds worked out really bad.

I'll look into that, Louie. A couple of my ABA replay games resulted in high offensive rebound totals but I'll keep checking on the stats as the game churns them out. Still a rookie with this game. Fun to toy with but not as intuitive as rolling the dice.

I concur, BackBay22. Action! PC Basketball has a lot under the hood. I'm a stats geek and just love watching a quick replay once in awhile. I'm trying to get the full court "animations" to be smoother and keep my button pushing to a minimum. I also love trying out home brew seasons found on the web. 1946 BAA, 1950 NBA, 1970s NBA Franchise All-Stars and college seasons are fun to check out for FREE.

@@redfanrod You can get the chalkboard gameplay animations better and more realistic by slowing down the gameplay and I think the play by play speed. Mess around with it a bit and you'll find it improves. I had the same issue but have it where I want it now. Chalkboard will a funky play every now and again but hey the game is not perfect but I really enjoy it.

Good point, but you can allow this simulation to play the game almost instantly if you like. Or just play the final two minutes if that works for you. Having said that, I'm not sure what kind of enjoyment can be achieved in a 10-minute version of a basketball simulation, whether it's on the tabletop or on a computer screen. Action! I've played only a few PC basketball simulations in recent years, like Hoops PC and iterations of Fast Break. Action!
