RESOURCES: Update 9/18/2024 Update: I am dropping a note to all of you quickly. This week, Microsoft is starting the basic authentication deprecation in outlook.com, hotmail.com, and live.com accounts. As of 9/18/2024, they have disabled basic authentication in several regions. MS turned it off for about 3% of the impacted users. They started with a smaller rollout to understand the support volumes and ensure they have the proper messaging for folks. Their goal is to continue adding more blocked regions over the coming days/weeks. People who use Outlook 2021 (build 11601.10000 or higher) are unaffected. ✅TechCommunity Blog Post: techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/outlook-blog/keeping-our-outlook-personal-email-users-safe-reinforcing-our/ba-p/4164184 ✅✅More Details from Microsoft: support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/modern-authentication-methods-now-needed-to-continue-syncing-outlook-email-in-non-microsoft-email-apps-c5d65390-9676-4763-b41f-d7986499a90d Download Apps (United States): 🔽Microsoft Store on Windows: apps.microsoft.com/detail/9nrx63209r7b?hl=en-us&gl=US 🔽Mac App Store: apps.apple.com/us/app/microsoft-outlook/id985367838?mt=12 🔽iOS App Store: apps.apple.com/us/app/microsoft-outlook/id951937596 🔽Google Play Store: play.google.com/store/apps/details/Microsoft_Outlook?id=com.microsoft.office.outlook&hl 🔽Microsoft 365 Subscription: www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/products-apps-services Outlook for Windows ➡Increase Sync Slider: support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/increase-the-sync-slider-to-download-older-emails-bd6ed143-20b1-48f8-aa88-4c500bb4d61e ➡Create a Profile: support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/create-an-outlook-profile-f544c1ba-3352-4b3b-be0b-8d42a540459d Thunderbird: 🐦🐦Detail: support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/modern-authentication-methods-now-needed-to-continue-syncing-outlook-email-in-non-microsoft-email-apps-c5d65390-9676-4763-b41f-d7986499a90d 🍎🍎Apple Mail (scroll to the bottom of the webpage): support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/modern-authentication-methods-now-needed-to-continue-syncing-outlook-email-in-non-microsoft-email-apps-c5d65390-9676-4763-b41f-d7986499a90d More Useful links: ➡➡Forgotten Your Password: Use the Sign-in Helper: support.microsoft.com/en-US/home/contact?linkquery=Help%20me%20sign%20in%20to%20Outlook 🪄🪄One more link: Subscribe to TRACCreations4e www.youtube.com/@traccreations4e

Hi, Dutchie over here!🙋♀ Simply want to say; You Are The Best! A Lot of Thanks(!) From this one, who as others, so it seemed, was pretty disturbed by the announcements, Outlook, came up with!🙈 Definetely nót there yet -Unfortunately, as my MacBook seems to be "version 11.7.10" and does therefore nót provide me, to update, the Outlook App by the Mac Store, as I just tried to follow your (pinned, in the comments) instructions.. But already, the effort, you do, for people like me who are not that technically wise.. In a way🤔😉, means a lot!🙏

Hi Dutchie, thanks for the kind words. The announcement had a lot of moving parts. I create it for non-techy users. I will send your message to MS to see if I get a response on how to assist you.
@traccreations4e2 ай бұрын
I have a response for you. The Outlook App on the Mac Store supports MAC OS (operating system) versions 14, 13, and 12. You need to upgrade to a more up-to-date OS version that supports the Outlook app. For example, I have an old computer that I purchased in 2015 with Windows 10. I was unable to upgrade to Windows 11-it's an old computer. I hope this helps. I recommend backing up your important data. After September 16, you will not have access to your emails, calendar, and contacts.

Hi @@traccreations4e thanks a lot for your response again! I am not sure though, I totally understand it.. It seems (just checked again) my Apple Macbook itself, can't upgrade to higher (just like your Windows 10). IS your advice Therefore, backing up possible desired data Because I'll remain unable to use Outlook at my laptop, after September 16? As you do start with the advice of upgrading 🤔🙈.. But as said, that simply doesn't seem to be an option.. With that, I am using Outlook often on my Samsung Mobile phone -would I be able to check my mails after September 16, on that device if I wouldn't change anything..? I'm totally lost as you might see 😅(!).. My Mobile is a new one, so that at least should support a possible required update or so..

@@ennabanena You are correct about being unable to upgrade your laptop to their newer Outlook app. For your mobile device, you are okay if you "did not" set up your account using POP or IMAP settings. For example, during account setup, if you were requested for a --> POP Password or --> IMAP setting port number like 993 then you are impacted and must re-download the Outlook app to your mobile device.

First, thanks for this video. I am still confused though. I downloaded the new version per your instructions. An icon appeared at the bottom of my desktop. I click it and my outlook email pops up. So am I set, or is there more I need to do? You say to add my account to the new downloaded version, but I don't understand what you mean by this. Was this done automatically, since I was already signed into the "old" version? Do we still use our ID/password to get into Outlook, or are we forever signed in, since the authentication is behind the scenes now? I do appreciate the video though, as I was in a panic not understanding the email Microsoft sent (the final notice). Good to know, if this doesn't work, I can still get access to my email account after the 16th, once/if I do get it to work. Thank you

Based on MS documentation, Windows 7 is an unsupported Operating system (OS). You need to update to Windows 10 or 11. I had an old computer purchased in 2015 and was unable to download Windows 11. Are there any versions of Desktop Outlook 2021 be they LTSC, MSI, MSO or C2R that won’t work, any to avoid? Could you do an upgrade video to show how to get the address book, calendar and most importantly all historic emails from 2016 imported into 2021? I believe that there is a PST file … are there others files involved? Can 2021 read 2016 PST files or do they need to be converted in some way? Does 2021 let you continue to access gmail accounts via IMAP? A video would explain a lot and the uptake, of such a video, would I believe would be huge. Thank you once again.

Well, at least I can still be able to sign into my Outlook e-mail account via the website on a web browser such as Microsoft Edge or something with my e-mail address and password that way since I wasn't affected myself by this change which was really nice although I was still very unsure at first if I was also going to be affected by that particular change or not. This is why I honestly really don't like when these companies and websites are always changing up everything all the time, especially since I always get so used to doing certain things after a while as well as doing certain things the old-fashioned way or something. I'm even the same way here with KZbin too. I still like KZbin and all, but I honestly sometimes don't like some of the changes that they make though. I even have autism since I'm autistic myself and certain changes are very difficult for me sometimes even though change is a part of life and all since it can't be helped most of the time.

Does anyone happen to know what exactly causes that and why it happens?
