There is a viral clip in which Deborah Ann Woll explains D&D to Jon Bernthal. In it he asks her "So the aim isn't to win?" - and she replies "No, it's to tell a great story"

43:00 For Doug... You're playing a Dragonborn druid. He's a big guy, a tough guy, and he used to work for a shady organization. And yet he's still a NICE GUY, quiet but very wise, charismatic. And he's PERCEPTIVE and attentive, too, picking up on cues that most would miss. So the fact that you make him "play it safe" when the pressure is on, that is in itself an entertaining personality quirk for a character like that. So I want to say that yes this is a "show" and you should certainly bear in mind that the goal is to entertain the audience. But at the same time, the fans all love Kelnys and we don't expect him to be as energetic and impulsive as Radian or as sneaky as I... the team all has their own fun characteristics and quirks. So if you feel like Kelnys would take a moment to check his armor before stepping off the wagon to defend the merchant caravan, run with it. I promise we're all having fun already.

5:00 First, I love the addition of music to ANYTHING. As a musician myself, and as a music-lover, I always have at least two songs running through my head simultaneously and it is the only thing that keeps me sane sometimes. Second, your song of the gloam gives me a sense of foreboding, like an unwilling participant of evil schemes is regretful of their part in it but went through with it anyway. An overbearing sadness. A trade, and knowingly so, of the free will of others (particularly the people they care about) in exchange for power. The sort of evil that you might try to struggle against it but as a whole it won't even notice any losses it may suffer from your efforts - an inexorable darkness. And I love it, it fits the story and this particular "enemy" so well.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts again. The music is so atmospheric, Harry did such a great job with it. And yes, the old Merlin movie was great, I used to love it as a kid. Unfortunately I cannot attend the MCM, but I hope you all will have a great time in there.

I remember watching the TV mini-series of Merlin that Channel 4 produced back in 1998 when it was first shown on TV and it was absolutely amazing at the time. It has informed how I perceive and represent the fey ever since. Miranda Richardson's performance was absolutely amazing. I really need to get round to rewatching my copy of the DVD. It is a real shame that it is mostly forgotten these days.

I so wish I could be in London this weekend to see you all. I was there at your first live show at EGX but I just can't make it work this year. I gots to have that merch! For now I'll just have to make do with telling you how much I'm enjoying this series. You are all spectacular.

Honestly Doug, I prefer the homebrew feel! I only watch DnD shows that aren't purely for entertainment: I love seeing how the players develop and how the story goes, too. 43:00

When I DM, every now and then I like to throw an underpowered threat at the party, so they can feel how powerful they are becoming. Like an enemy that they would have (or actually have) struggled with at lower levels, and now they can just hot knife through them no hassle.

can we talk about ben's crazy ads, don't know if you guys already talked about it yet.
@williamjones53342 ай бұрын
I think they probably won't because a) most of the cast don't watch the ads being filmed, and b) Action Surge goes up at the same time as the episode for Patrons, who don't see ads, and so it possibly wouldn't make any sense for them.
@NaturalSix2 ай бұрын
We don't tend to talk about them because they're not really part of the show, so to speak. We typically film them at the end of the day, so it goes Story > Action Surge > Elli's Diary > Ad Reads > Anything else we need to film. It's a pretty long day. So while we all watch Ben film them from the main room (we're usually dying with laughter) they come AFTER all the group filming is done. Also, sometimes we batch film them. For example, we just filmed this weekend, and we did the ads for 16, 17 and 18 all in one sitting ;) - Hollie

That one point where they ask about Themself last episode really threw me. I mean I understand about kobolds kind of being removed from society. But then there is the Virtuous Themself and the Antiqua Parvus where I wonder what everyone else thinks of them. Are they just not known as being amongst those groups? And then the God Killers ask about Themself specifically and I don't understand how the gnome does or maybe doesn't clue in to what I actually is. There doesn't seem to be any recognition so I'm left baffled by how any of that works.
@frankly_earnest2 ай бұрын
My interpretation is that Themself is the epitome of espionage and stealth given their role in the war...so it checks out that mythologically/cosmologically, very little is known about them. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if the non-kobold stories about Themself just stated they were a small shadowy figure.
