You missed Demetres at 400 Danforth, that’s Greek pastry desserts, you passed by it, then Athens pastries 509 Danforth , across the street, and Serrano bakery on 830 Pape ave., north on Danforth. To name the most known

Always love seeing you guys together or separate, love that quaint little greektown learned a lot from the locals about the architecture and food... I have a special fondness and fascination for Greek stuff we just tried a new little cafe here in the San Fernando valley called Pozis, right after Yom Kippur, was quite good! 🇬🇷🍽️🇬🇷

This was my neighbourhood for quite a number of years up until 2005 when I moved back to Vancouver. For a while I lived on Ferrier, about a half a block north of Danforth. Then I moved over to Pape Ave. about 2 1/2 blocks south of Danforth. Danforth looks not that much different from when I lived there. Probably some of the bars and restaurants I frequented are gone now. Places like The Auld Spot, Silk Road (Asian food), The Willow Restaurant (Mexican food), and Dora Keogh's (Irish Bar). They were (or are, if they're still there) on the south side of D. As you were mostly recording on the north side, I couldn't tell. The Carrot Common looks pretty much the same from what I could see as you passed by. The Astoria has been there, like, forever. Etc.

Very cool! Thanks for sharing your experiences with your old neighborhood

@@ActionKid After a bit of Googling, it looks like those places on the south side of Danforth are still happening, with the exception of Silk Road.

21:16-Why can't a subway entrance for the Ontario Line be built *_on the street_* itself, like the one at the corner of Yonge and King (near where the Sleep Country location is)?

I love that area I used to live at Pape and Langley Ave. and could walk to my job at Second Cup Coffee cup on the Danforth but if I had to open at 5 am my boss used to pay for me to take a taxi with float money for my safety so considerate that was in 2000. I loved the carrot common across the street too that's how I got into essential oils and aromatherapy they have great organic products too. I was horrified when that area was all shot up 5 years ago.

I love the buildings here, rather than the ugly high rise buildings. I like the idea of preserving the low rise buildings with the little stores and restaurants. The city realized it was ruing Toronto by taking these buildings down too fast and destroying the past. In other countries those small buildings were protected.
@TheTroyc19822 жыл бұрын
The problem is that these building seat on top of the subway and it's a very inefficient use of space/housing to have these building here when a high rise with retail at the base would serve Toronto much better. There is a reason not a lot of Yonge people live in that area and it's because all the old people own the housing. new development would be more life to the area with a younger and more plentiful population.
