The very first teddy bear was made when Theodore Roosevelt was president and named after him. After he refused to shoot a bear on a hunting trip. I loved it here too. I have only been to the lower corner of Colorado many years ago, it is a beautiful state. Thank you for this trip.

Welcome to my home state! Wish I ran into ya! You passed by the famous taffy shop our family has been visiting since I was a kid. As far as high altitude is concerned, you probably drove to Trail Ridge Road, the highest road in North America, which is wherevthe Continental Divide is. Done a lot of large format photography there...beautiful place!

The Stanley Hotel was the inspiration for King to write The Shining; the hotel in the movie is in Oregon and the interior sets were in England. 😊

The view right before you drop into Estes Park is astounding! Hope you captured it. I'm commenting before watching - hope you were able to film going to the top of trail ridge road. There was a big flood that went through there and down the canyons a number of years ago - that's why you see signs saying "climb for safety".

My parents and I visited Estes Park occasionally in the 1950s, when it was much less touristy, as were most places. I recall some named small cottages rented by summer residents and a mineral spring whose water was available from a pipe protruding from the ground in the center of town. The town was a very popular destination with Midwesterners.

Actually there’s another hotel around that area that’s really strange. I forgot it’s name but one room was sealed off in the 50s as it was the scene of a gruesome and bloody murder which the police caught the person responsible. But not even a year later weird things happened in that room like random objects moving, ghostly images, even noises that come from nowhere. The hotel had enough so they extended the wall to the other room next door and completely sealed off the room from the outside world. Currently a light fixture hangs where the door is supposed to be. The room has never been opened since and is an absolute time capsule from the 1950s. Though occasionally hauntings still happen like objects moving around or a chandelier shakes but no ghostly images so far. You are also close to both Donner pass and Donner Lake where the doomed Donner party made stops at during the migration to California. They also stupidly tried to cross the Great salt Lake with no supplies. You know the story of them, right. Currently Donner pass is where the interstate is now and you can not get through during winter as the blizzards funnel through there making things much worse. A memorial does hang there on the side of the road marking the events of that time. Donner lake was the absolute last stop for the party to refresh supplies and hunt which lead to the wrong path for them. Currently a nice state park that is stocked with fish yearly but people don’t realize the history behind the area.

Hi Action Kid!!! Just wanted to highly recommend an authentic pizza place in Estes Park CO. called Antonio's real New York Pizza, it is soooo good, we went there again the nex t day. The owner is from NY and is very gracious. He loves chatting with customers and his pizza is the best. We still remember it many years later😊. The Leon Family
