Elon Musk wants to build a multi-billion-dollar project in Memphis.
xAI will build the world’s largest supercomputer in the Bluff City, according to President and CEO of Greater Memphis Chamber Ted Townsend, who made the announcement during a press conference Wednesday.
“I am pleased to announce that xAI’s Gigafactory of Compute, the world’s largest supercomputer, is to be located in Memphis Tennessee,” he proclaimed.

I hope the locals don’t expect a ton of jobs from this type of facility. Unlike manufacturing, the final job count is low compared to the size of the facility. Good jobs, but not lots of them.

They don't need much labour from Memphis. Once it's set up it shouldn't need that many employees to work on it. They'll definitely have some security personnel and a few engineers but most of the work being done on the computers can be done remotely.
