ANC government can't even control rats and mice. Every town is full of rats and mice. I saw rats and mice chasing cats. Cats were running as fast as their legs could carry them to a place of safety. I asked myself,are all of them comrades?

This would make sense if ActionSA had some local entrepreneurs ready to start those towship businesses, or was putting energy to train township entrepreneurs, instead they think the gap will automatically be filled! All this talk would have been logical if there was a flourishing of "locals" in that space and the foreigners were somehow interfering! Obviously, it's purely political! The truth is, if those Pakistanis and Ethiopians were still making some profit, it means the convenience brought by the proximity of their shops is valuable! Closing those shops without any replacement will be detrimental to those communities in the ahort term, and could even be in the long term! The best solution is for the local government or the government to pass laws that incentivise locals to enter those space with better perks than foreigners (better taxes, maybe some form of loan plans to support "spaza businesses", ...).
@TheMsyZaКүн бұрын
The locals were flourishing in the space. I dont know where you were, but the foreigners had an unfair advantage, like economies of scale (allowing them to give debt snd sell unregulated products) snd barriers to entry (no business or tax certificates or visas) that were not inforced by the government. Also, Action SA is not the government in power, they don't need to have people ready to do anything, the ANC should be implementing the existing laws. You make good points but you sound like you've neve lived in a township.
@ukhamba_solutionsКүн бұрын
Please try to summarise your statement so we can engage.. The spaza shops were doing very well under locals, before something that we don't know happened. Maybe you were born in 2000?
@marysinclair3759Күн бұрын
@@TheMsyZa being in a township means nothing. It is all about business which can be done ANYWHERE. If people are able to recognise opportunity then they are the people that build economies. Stopping foreigners from owning spaza shops merely because they are foreigners is unacceptable. Many businesses in South Africa a foreign and that includes Spaza shops. What is supposed to happen is that government is supposed to send health inspectors but they never do and are only now doing so to score political points. All foreign owned businesses employ people. Are you going to provide employment to the many thousands of people who will become unemployed? Nope, some critical thinking needs to happen and sadly many foreign owned Spaza shops that do adhere to regulations and service their area well will be adversely affected just because of the rehtoric that is being spun by parties such as Action SA.

@@marysinclair3759 Unacceptable by who? You? Spaza shops owners must be fully documented and legally suitable to operate. Foreigners are manufacturing poisonous food inside shops. You sound like one of them, and if the government don't, the people will shut you down no arguments.
