You can also add a radial fast blur to an adjustment layer above the debris to imporve it.

If I was trying to make an explosion on for example grass how should I create the debris and cracks?

the scale of the explosion doesn't seem right. It should be much bigger for that amount of detail

You always do dark scenes. Inside the house, the swat team at night. Show a daylight scene :)
