If you've ever wanted to improve upon your guitar playing, you can't go wrong with this guy. I believe I've been subscribed to his membership for about 6 months now and I've never been able to play as good as I do now. I've been playing for over 20 years, wasted probably thousands on guitar lessons, and for whatever reason, I was never able to grasp it the way I do now. Just join his membership now. It's very inexpensive and you won't regret it.

I would consider myself an intermediate player since I have been hacking away for 30 years, but even I can benefit from this type of instruction. I like that you're not forcing scales and music theory down the throats of your viewers. That can be overwhelming for young or new guitar players. It's also redundant at times. Yes, scales and theory are important, but what's more important is that young players can immediately take something from a quick lesson and implement what they learned into their playing right away without getting bogged down by theory. Think of the notes as patterns or boxes and chords as a map, not scales or arpeggios. Music is a transference of emotion or feeling not science. The important thing is to make music and play music, not theorize about music... Thank you... .

What an incredibly pretentious way of thinking. Nobody can "own" the basic building blocks of music like rhythm, dynamics and chords. Yes, these things were at some time in the mind of only a single person ( or, more likely, a handful of people in different places all over the world ). And then other other people came and copied them, "stole" their "secrets" and BUILT UPON THEM. This applies to anything: music, engineering, medicine..you name it. Its literally how we evolved, not only as society, but even as species. Take whats already there and create something new! Most people seeking out such knowledge, be it online, by talking to other musicians or through rewinding their favourite songs over and over dont do it, because they want to hurt anyones rights and sell off other peoples stuff as their own. They do it because they have a deep love and respect for the craft and the artists and they want to be a bit like them. And by taking those bits and pieces of other peoples music they'll eventually develop their own style. Just think a moment about all the artists and all the different styles of music we never heard, if nobody ever tried to copy someone else. Finding your own way in music isnt easy. The guitar in particular is an extremely versatile instrument that can create tons of different sounds. So, to truly find out, what kind of music want to create and what youre actually capable of you'd want to learn everything you can. Not only about the guitar, but about other guitarists, other instrumentalists and other styles of music. Looking at a guitarists left hand is just another way of doing this.

@teekonig88033 жыл бұрын
@@davidjohns4745 I guess I didnt use the word "pretentious" correctly then? English isnt my first language, sorry. What I meant to say, was that I thought of your statement as kind of arrogant. To me it suggested, that you 'd rather have things like those shown in the video kept secret, away from the eyes of anyone except a few close to the original creator. Basically treating it like intellectual property. That you'd rather have people figuring this out this stuff on their own, through years of experience ( or never, potentially ). Like in the old days. Which I didnt think was right. Maybe I was reading to much into your statement. If so, im sorry. Otherwise, I already stated my opinion in the first comment.
@davidjohns47453 жыл бұрын
@@teekonig8803 Hi Philipp, I've been playing for 50 years. My original statement is valid. Even the guitar magazines and books in those days didn't go much beyond the minor pentatonic. It used to annoy me when they never showed the left hand. It took me ages to realise they were doing it on purpose. I used to learn songs by lifting the needle off the record to get one note at a time. It took me many years to learn some songs, Interestingly, sometimes you would learn to play a song that was in fact 2 guitar parts :) Many of the old guitarists were taught by musicians from a generation before who probably understood different aspects of musical theory. There was a definite attempt to protect the professional skills to differentiate professionals from amateurs. Many professions do this. Try asking a plumber how he fixed your boiler. Now it is so much easier to get information, so with determination, you can progress much faster, but you can also put on a show without any real dedication. The barrier to entry is much lower. Assuming you are younger than me, when you've been playing 50 years, the artificial intelligence is going to do it far better that you :) Oh, you want to play like Hendrix, just press the relevant button. Having said that I am sure from what you say that you are dedicated to your craft.
