Couldn't agree more about the people at the firearms counter... Back when Gander Mountain was closing, a friend and I went to look at shotguns and the guy at the counter didn't know a thing so I was asking my friend all the questions since he worked at a gun range and knew more. Decided to pull the trigger but the guy at the counter refused the sale because asking my friend questions threw up too many red flags... What a joke.

Went in with my son who was contemplating a pistol purchase. I asked the kid behind the counter to hand me a specific gun. He didn't know what it was. I pointed to it and it still took him a few seconds to find it. This happened twice.

I was pleasantly surprised by Sportsman Warehouse when they took over an old Gander Mtn location in Lansing. Got a smoking deal on a USP40 setup, mostly because I knew way more than the gun counter guy or his boss. I still try to stop in when I'm back in the area.

Happen to have the only sportsmans warehouse in Virginia 45 min from its ware I get most of my reloading powders and primers love that place great selection reasonable prices local and dint have to pay high dollar shipping fees

Having a .40 I usual have a better selection of defensive ammo that is effective and in stock than with 9mm. Practice rounds not so much.

I use Inceptor RNP non lead training rounds in my Glock 20 10mm with added .40 Storm Lake converted barrel. 😉. I shoot the Federal Syn Tech .40 rounds too sometimes.

I try to be very cautious when taking advice from sales people. I bought a black powder revolver and was looking for real black powder like Goex. I did a internet search to see if anyone in my area sold black powder. I got a few results so I went to check the stores out to see what they had any. I stopped at a very well-known and popular chain sporting good's store in the area, I live in MN by the way, and asked a salesman if they sold black powder. He very confidently said yes and brought me over to a display where there were containers of powder sitting on the shelves. It was smokeless powder. After explaining to him what I was actually looking for he finally admitted they do not sell black powder. I have no idea why he thought smokeless powder was the same as black powder. Luckily I knew the difference between the two and didn't buy his recommendation. There are times that consumers really need to know what they are buying instead of just taking advice from someone that works at a store and appears to know what they are talking about.

Great place to shop, but don't ever order a firearm from then. They are a great place to buy one if it's right in front of you. But ordering from them is just a terrible experience. What ever you do, don't order a firearm from them unless you don't care if it takes months to arrive. I promise you that expected arrival date they tell you is a massive lie, it won't even be close.

Would have to be on an AR-10 receiver, dont think it would work well either due to the rim. You'd be limited to maybe 5 round magazines as anything more and you'd suffer from rim lock. If .30 Remington ever took off like it should have, that could be easily doable though. Or one in .300 Savage, which is pretty similar as well.

I like the Ranger T, T series 230gr +P JHP in .45acp caliber. The specs are slightly better than Federal HST. 😎. I used to carry Liberty brand Civil Defense for home security: Glock 21 gen 4 but I chose to stick with tested LE type ammunition styles.

ASP has a video about a group of gun & cadre guys at a event. John said about 90% of the attendees used either Federal HST or Speer Gold Dot carry rounds 😉. A few packed Critical Duty. I, myself like Critical Duty but for EDC or CCW, you cant go wrong with HST, DPX, Speer Gold Dot. Some like the Winchester Ranger T, T series too.
