One of the biggest missions of this channel is to expose people to the teaching style of different instructors. I had a great time at Chuck's class, learned a good bit, had fun, but I also spent enough time in the military that a salty SNCO doesn't bother me none. Others have different experiences, and will like it more or less. I teach very differently than this as an instructor in terms of my approach to connecting with my students, but I value Chuck and know he is filling a role I don't. :)

That's one of the thing I love most about this; It's not just a big tube of 'this is how it's done', it's more of a reflective piece on different styles and what you can takeaway from each of them.

I had about an hour and a half long conversation with Pressburg a few weeks ago. Standing around that kitchen island he took me to church. What I gleaned from our talk is that he cares, deeply. The situations are real, and the consequences are often swift and severe for getting it wrong. As dudes who carry everyday, we take on a debt to the people we are attempting to protect to be as sharp as humanly possible. Anything less is failure. There is no amount of money I would not pay to have that conversation with him again.

I can’t lie, I do jive with the scorched earth teaching style from a student standpoint. It’s probably a great experience to take a class from a living legend like Chuck.
@jcfindley3802 жыл бұрын
Some students do. I am not personally a fan of the style as an instructor or a student. Many students, such as my wife, will completely tune it out.
@marcuskennedy33312 жыл бұрын
@@jcfindley380 definitely feel that. I’m not saying that it’s a great method or anything. Just that when I personally am in a class it can get me going. A well spoken calm instructor can usually do the job better though because they can teach more people with their style.

While I am in prison ANTIFA is going to burn my house down and my kids are going to F'ing burn alive! That is where I tuned out. Yes, I have had my share of instructors that used the fear, sarcasm and ridicule delivery method; mostly in the military. It IS good to know it is still alive and well out there. I make my living as an instructor and have learned as much from bad instructors as good. Most of that is how I DON'T want to do things and which instructors to avoid if I am taking a course. Still, the info is invaluable.

There are some great lessons in this video. I especially liked when he got real with the students about how important practice is, and how shooters delude themselves into thinking that they’ll be better when the real thing happens. It made me realize I need to be more dedicated to my practice schedule.

I've always enjoyed watching Chuck's long winded, colorful way of passing along information while watching him on YT but, I'm not so sure I would want to pay X-hundred dollars to have, what I can only imagine is, the majority of my class/range time ate up by giggling at his slick, super cool, story telling. I'm sure some people need to be verbally stunned before they'll start picking up what he's putting down, I just don't think I'm one of those people, he's a legend and I'm already hanging on every word... I don't need there to be so many unnecessary words taking up my limited training time.

I agree with the seriousness of accuracy, I love the video and the stress increase I’m sure it peeked in the trainees. Let’s be real careful the intent of the traveling bullet is to eliminate the threat. In the majority of shooting this accurately is more important than time, is correct, in an active mall/school shooter. That threat must be stopped immediately. The intent of the self-defense shooter should be guarded.

This is exactly the kind of training that LEOs need - not only to improve accuracy, but also mindset. The golden days of qualified immunity are indeed coming to an end, and hopefully it'll be abolished entirely soon enough.

Hopefully not. If police officers don't have qualified immunity I would recommend every cop on every force in the US resign immediately for the sake of their family. Most people don't know what QI is and continue to misrepresent it.

I did buy a bunch of other nra d8 targets with a black ring because thats what I could find. If anyone knows where I can find these I would appreciate it. But for sure I have never read any news of anti-fascist activists burning down the houses of cops or anyone else. Show me an instance. Anti-fascists generally come out on the street to oppose and stand up to organized violent bigoted groups. Not always, but generally. I know this channel is also opposed to organized bigoted violence. Hmmmm…

In a different video he described this mental approach to a shot as "if you miss the black you will rupture a vat of sarin". I am pretty sure that it would be hard to find an instance of that happening in real life. Its not about what you have to tell yourself to make yourself care about getting that hit, its not about whether any particular example offends your political sensibilities, its about making that mental state happen. Dude is pointing at the moon and you are examining the finger.

In my experience, when it comes to professions where the consequence of failure is death, salty language and crude humor is the standard. I’m in the fire service in the United States. It’s imperative that we don’t forget, even when training, that a mistake or miscalculation on our part could lead to our death, our crew members death, or the death of someone’s loved one. It’s difficult to impress the weight of that upon someone without a few f bombs. I imagine that police and military are probably the same in that regard. I don’t know if it’s how I’m wired, or because of my previous training and instructors in the fire service, but this kind of teaching really resonates with me.
