Judges generally don't like to keep people in jail for stuff like this. She's out on bail now. I suspect she'll eventually get a slap on the wrist but if it's any consolation, even a short time in jail is traumatic. She also lost her job and a significant portion of the Internet now knows who she is. She's cooked, regardless. If she has any sense (and that is debatable), she'll learn how to express herself better. Another news story said is she's kind of known for being a nuisance to government officials even outside of the council chamber, cussing them out when she sees them out, that kind of thing. I think a restraining order would do everyone a world of good here, including the causes she supports since she's not articulate or likable.

Notably defamation , talking about child pornography, inciting suicide , making false statements in advertising are examples of free speech . Among others . The origin and context of the first amendment is widely misunderstood . In first instance free speech allows people to voice their political opinions , protect a free press , etc . Over the years people have come to think that a person can say whatever they want . They can’t . The statement of the OP , to which reacted , is 100% true . I have assumed this happened in the USA , as it says Bakersfield . Other countries who also have free speech have similar limitations . Holocaust denial is a punishable offense in a few European countries .
