Tobias is a truly great actor. I wish he would do more because he is absolutely fascinating to watch! And that voice!

It really bugs me that all of the IMDb reviews are focusing on the lack of a beard. The man's delivering character performance that can carry the entire series on its own and viewers are tripping over the lack of a particularly ugly beard. I mean nothing about him looks like the original man, but the beard is where we draw the line? In fact, a lot of the cast is like that but it's a dramatization not a documentary. 🤷♀️

Great in Outlander but average in Manhunt. Talented Irish actor Anthony Boyle was the sure standout in Manhunt for me.

I don't understand why so many British actors portray American characters. I wonder how many American actors work and play British characters in England.

I've actually seen them talk about this before and I can't remember the particulars but something about the shapes that you need to make with your mouth in order to make the correct sounds during dialect training are easier to accomplish if you have a British accent and are trying to do an American one than vice versa.

Many, sadly, and they don't even bother learning the accents, whereas the Brits and Irish DO make a great effort to sound American. British actors are simply superior, far superior, to American ones.

It's about the size of the industry. There's way more work in Hollywood than there is in Britain. As a british actor that has managed to "make it", you are far more likely to geet enough consistant work to pay the bills in America than you are in the UK. In the UK Tobias is a bigger fish in a comparitvely much smaller pond. It makes sense to expand your opportunities by trying to find work in the biggest TV/film industry in the world. There is just so much less work produced in the britsh film and tv industry that you're fighting a bunch of other actors for comparatively few roles. There's also the matter of there just being more money stateside as well... On the whole there's little reason for american actors to come over to work in britain and portray brits. First of all, the accent appears to be rather challenging for them and even if they did manage this it would net them less money than if they had just stayed in hollywood in the first place. One would wonder why they had bothered. Of course this doesn't stop some americans from doing it sometimes.
