For example, it accurately represents what West African civilization was really like before the Europeans came, and it was a lot more advanced than the original Roots made it out to be.

So you are correct: naturally we would not ever see them. (That goes without saying.) But my point is, obviously there is NO SHORTAGE of British actors that can do an American Accent well. So it must not be "that" difficult. In fact the skill is so plentiful, it appears to be an acting skill among Brits that is par for the course/expected. No more different than expecting an actor to be able to memorize their lines. Nevertheless, feel free to post your long list of well-known British actors that are bad at doing an American accent. I'll wait.
