Jim Carey had problems much earlier on in his career. I remember his own family saying that he could not break out of the Ace Ventura character and would do insane shit all the time at home that would drive his family nuts. Another individual who I would add to your list is Steven Seagal. Early in his career, his ex wife reported that he would hire people to randomly come up and try to attack her, just so that he could play “the action hero” and beat the hell out of everyone.

Another crazy method acting story where the actor lost weight was 50 Cent, when he played a cancer patient. He lost over 50lbs in 2011 for the movie All Things Fall Apart. It made such a drastic difference in his appearance. I was shook.

DiCaprio in Django cuts his hand to shreds and gives an amazing performance. One of the best scenes event filmed. Every other actor on the planet would've cried and went to the hospital. Dude doesn't flinch and finishes the scene like a boss, THEN gets stitched up. The other actors in that scene are classic. Trying not to blow the take. He may be nuts, but he's a top notch Actor.
