One of the more interesting actors of the 60s, it's good to see appreciation for the work of Christopher Jones.

I just discovered this actor while watching an old Mitchum movie, Ryan's Daughter. I started researching him. I agree with you 100%. His presence on screen was wonderful. Have watched other movies. I want to find more of his work. He loved children. He was so handsome when he was young. I am so obsessed!

Christopher Jones was great. He could have been super huge for sure, Wild in the streets is excellent because of him. Looking Glass War as well.

I am a fan of Anthony Hopkins so one night I was looking for movies from the 1960's as my teen years are in the 70's but I enjoy the fashion of the 60s. So, there was Chris Jones and an Anthony Hopkins movie you mentioned. I couldn't get over how much he looked like my ex at 19. But when I did search for Chris Jones bio, like you said there isn't much, but I did read a few ladies that he dated or married wrote an autobiography had included Chris in their memoirs. Apparently, he had a nervous breakdown sad to say after Sharon Tate died and Jim Morrison too, I gather he just wanted a life away from all he had for a brief time in Hollywood. Too bad as I think he could have been one of the stellar actors of his time.

I watch every movie or TV show he starred in. He was an exceptional actor in my opinion. I still have 2 albums of the movie WILD IN THE STREET as well as the original novel & DVD. His life b4 & after acting is a life story within itself. It was a shame the yr he passed, no movie industry award acknowledged him during their tributes of actors, etc. who passed that year 2014...

Just found out about him like 30 minutes ago. He was born where I was born in Jackson, TN. Also, learned his mother was locked in the "infamous" Western State mental hospital where I graduated high school in Bolivar, TN. That was one creepy place for sure! Im going to have to do more research on this guy. Good video my friend.

Man, for decades I remembered that dream boat Christopher Jones in Ryan's Daughter-- Dayum!! I'm a Dean fan too. Wasn't JD obsessed with Jesse James?? I believe he wanted to perform in a JJ movie and he read the life story several times. If I am right, could be a clue to Jones' role in that movie.

He had “ the look “ he looked like James dean was a decent actor. He just didn’t care anymore. He made some money and He got burned out and quit acting that’s it. He was also good friends with Jim Morrison.

You should listen to the audiobook or read Olivia Hussey's biography "The Girl on the Balcony." She spoke about dating Christopher Jones during the filming of Ryan's daughter. They broke up because he was abusive. Then, he followed her to Los Angeles where she lived in the Manson Murder House (10050 Cielo Drive), after the Manson murders, and he lived on the same property in the cottage below. One night, he entered the big house and raped her. As a result, she said she got pregnant and aborted the baby. He must have been on drugs.

Really enjoyed discovering Christopher Jones. I managed to see Renaud Verley in three movies, The Damned, Safety Catch & The Bell From Hell. I think exploring Renaud Verley's career would be interesting. He seemed to quit feature film acting in 1984, after appearing in 'The Blood of Others' which I have but haven't seen yet. Maybe the information is readily available as to why his career halted. Just seems odd that he stopped acting in THE decade where actors from everywhere had more work, even if by in large, the quality of roles took a steep dive for the lower budget projects. Anyway, great idea to focus on obscure actors who were in genuinely brilliant movies, showed great talent, only to not furfil their potential ie Mickey Rourke type of scenarios.

Very good discourse on Christopher Jones! Other potent "clones" of James Dean were Michael Parks, Alain Delon and (to a lesser extent) the aptly named Dean Stockwell. I think you are right to question whether Jones was aping Dean. He certainly seemed to in his appearance on the Skip Lowe show you cite! I think The Looking Glass War is probably his best vehicle overall - both for his talent and his amazing Dean-like charisma. As an example, here is a very short video comparison of Jones and Dean. kzbin.info/www/bejne/d2TIlIOGbamli7M
