A true Stephen King classic. Kathy Bates is a treasure. She can do it all, comedy, drama, horror, suspense. I love how funny she can be and then is equally as terrifying.

Fun facts: The movie was shot chronologically to build up the tension between Kathy Bates and James Caan. It worked terrific! Director Rob Reiner has a cameo as the helicopter pilot.

Kathy Bates was terrifying in this movie. 'Misery' was filmed in Nevada’s oldest town Genoa, which stood in for Silver Creek, CO. The crew built four buildings on Genoa’s main boulevard - a cafe, radiator shop, sheriff’s station, and a general store. The production also filmed at Nevada’s oldest thirst parlor, the Genoa Bar and Saloon.

Stephen King described Annie in her depressive episode(s) as being "The real Annie, with all her masks off" and I actually low-key feel bad for her during those scenes. She's a lot less volatile and unstable, too, and she's a lot more with reality than any other time. Like, she recognises what she's doing is wrong and can also see that Paul doesn't actually like being with her or love her. It's like deep down she realizes her action come from a place of desperate loneliness and fear of losing him.

CLARISS you should read the book, she didn’t break his ankles. She cut half his lower leg off with an axe and cauterizes it with a blowtorch. She also makes him drink dirty mop water, runs over officer head with riding mower (was no Buster), and these are just 3 differences.

The ending different, in they still fight but she goes to the barn to get the chainsaw but succumb to her wounds and dies there. And he is left days barracked before the cops find him still thinking she is alive

What Clariss said about fans vs celebrities knowing trivia reminds me I saw a game show where Danny Bonaduci was the host and the questions were made up by the show. He looked down at the question and said "OMG if you know this it is SCARY" and asked the contestant "What was the license plate number of the Partridge Family bus?" And the contestant rattled it off immediately. To which Danny told the guy to his face "You frighten me."

Kathy Bates won an Oscar for her role. You should watch her acceptance speech. It’s funny. My Dad showed this to my brother and me from a Blockbuster Video store Another claustrophobic thriller where the protagonist is confined inside a building is WAIT UNTIL DARK. With the lovely Audrey Hepburn. Through a series of events in the prologue, a doll stuffed with heroin ends up in a disabled woman’s basement apartment and three crooks want it. What starts as a hustle gradually evolves into a nail biting battle of wits and an intense home invasion. There’s even a jump scare or two that will make your heart burst out of your chest

Just finished reading "Misery"(saw the movie before I read it). Kathy Bates as Annie is far sweeter than book Annie. Book version though, does so much worse...(and not just in terms of Paul's foot). However, Bates did an amazing job of being unsettling even when she's happy. Annie of the book withholds Paul's pills to convince him to let her read his new book. At the end, Paul actually burned a fake copy of "Misery's Return", but kept the real copy and sold it, as it turned out it was really his best work(as it became a gothic mystery rather than a schlocky romance drama). Despite the fact he still has PTSD, it reawakens his love of writing again.

Kathy Bates is someone you want to hug. Annie Wilkes is someone you want to hug your hands around her neck. The first woman to win the Best Actress Oscar for a horror film and she kills it (pun intended). One of the best King adaptations (Rob Reiner also helmed another excellent adaptation for STAND BY ME) - the screenwriter William Goldman was one of the industry's best. The novel goes a bit harder re: the 'hobbling' (I'll let you explore that one yourself Clariss ;d) Caan IMO hardly ever gets the credit for this role - he has the more difficult one (the heavy lifting if you will) being largely bed-ridden and in fear for his life. He was always a welcome presence in film and he's SorelyMissed (again think this - Sonny Corleone finally meets his match ;d )

1. A mustang isn't a very good vehicle to drive in the snow. 2. Red flag #1: Anyone that says "Oogie" 3. The way she responded to the fire in the BBQ pit when he threw a match on the book: What do you expect? 4. In the book Annie chops his feet off (not just hobbling him). It IS Stephen King after all. 5. Kathy Bates won Best Actress Oscar. 6. Rob Reiner is a great director but, it's too bad he's a CPF.😭🤬 7. King wrote this because of a deep-seated fear of what overzealous fans might do. 8. RIP James Caan 😇 9. FWIW Kathy Bates recently announced her retirement.

Drugging thing never would have actually worked. "Novril" is a fictional drug, but it says multiple times in the book that it's basically a high dose of Codeine. I'm prescribed Codeine and will sometimes chew them* when the pain is really bad and Codeine tastes INCREDIBLY bitter. You could add one Codeine pill to an entire batch of cake batter and you'd taste something nasty in that cake. *Thoroughly chewed up opioids start working in 10-15 mins as opposed to 30-45 mins if you swallow them whole

Thanks for disclaimer, friend. About to dip😅 but have to say as an old dude, if i ever did reactions as someone whos seen most of the best Classics that get the views, id just have maybe a "Forrest Gump", "The Exorcist", & maybe a Kubrick & Hughes flick channel & just grab any & all people i could find who've never seen react with me. "Misery" is one such flick that is RECYCLABLE GOLD!!! Then id start another channel with a partner & eventuly add more partners & channels & randomly switch channels amongst us partners, all the while racking up views & subs via same recycled highly viewed Classics. I do believe you could literally have a "Forrest Gump Reaction Channel" showing it to random people who've never seen it & succeed in the reaction game. See ya! ✌️🌎❤️
