This is a REAL 4K version of one of the first films ever, and it really looks so good. The Upscaling actually ruins the detail, and I would rather see a film in its original framerate rather than artifically "Enhancing" it to 60fps (If it were a 24fps film for example I want it to stay 24fps as much as possible, and not artificially changed to 60fps). That's why I prefer an actual scan of the film rather than an upscale, which is why this 4k version looks so great.

I know people being scared of this was probably a myth but I can genuinely understand why this would scare people seeing a moving picture for the first time. Viewing this standing close enough that the image fills my vision I still kinda unconsciously want to step back as the train passes. Great shot composition. Film scan+ Upscaling looks so crisp too! Satisfying quality to it and I can almost imagine the sound of the screeching brakes, chugging steam engine and the hustle and busle of passengers
@morganalabeille5004 Жыл бұрын
The stuff about people jumping out of their seats or actually thinking they were going to get hit are myths, but they definitely found it genuinely scary. Probably in a similar way to how people find horror movies scary today. The myths are likely a result of people talking about how it felt to see it and people taking their hyperbole way too seriously.

Nice resource! So how is the upscale performed from the 1080p Blu-Ray version back to 4K without information loss?
@andymyers1014 жыл бұрын
It's not! I would have posted it as straight 1080p but, as I mentioned in the notes, bitrate takes a huge hit if originally uploaded to KZbin at 1080p. (i.e. the 1080p stream gets a higher bitrate if you upload a video at 4k). That was counterproductive to posting it with the most original detail possible. There are obviously several of points of degradation in the chain - hopefully someday we'll see an upload directly from the 4k master.
