I passed my test today!! It really wasn’t too bad I got an older guy with glasses he was really nice and started off the drive with telling me to take a deep breath 🥹 but I did a completely different route than this one. The route wasn’t hard but there were lots of turns, stop signs and some residential areas. He made me do a K-turn and reverse parking on the test and a forward parking getting back to the DMV. During the test, he watched my speedometer and asked me at random times what the speed limit was in a given area. He gave very straight forward directions but he didn’t like having to repeat them so def stay focused. But yea good luck to anyone who is watching this video, just do your best. I failed twice before but I finally got it so you can too. XOXO

I just re-took mine at Hamden and passed! My second time. I had some really old man but he was super nice and could tell I was nervous. He spoke super softly and calm and gave me really good instructions before hand, and reassured that what I was doing was correct. The route was very different than my first route. But my route the second time was pretty similar to the one in this video. I took mine super late in the day so that might be good because they’re probably super tired LOL. I had to reverse park in a parking lot, and to do my k turn. He gave me really good instructions though and kept reaffirming that I was doing good on my speed and doing good stopping in signaling. It was nothing too difficult just be aware of your speed management. Because State Street you have to go pretty fast.

I’m taking mine at the Hamden DMV this Wednesday and I’ve got a few questions if you can answer them. Did they have you parallel park on the street or at the DMV? Also do they require you to use the emergency break even if you’ve got it in your car? Would it be an automatic fail if I choose not to use it?

I retook my test at Hamden and passed! My route was very different from the start (we took a left out of the parking lot and not right like in the video) but the area was still easy, although a bit hilly. The guy was pretty laid back and was able to have a good conversation while still taking my test. I've always have had a good experience whenever I've had to go to them.

I just passed today on 1/23/24. Was my second attempt at the test having went through The Next Street in Guilford but I failed. The route I took was EXACTLY the same as this so it kinda threw me off in a way, like I’m expecting something to change but it never happens. I did a 3-Point/K-Turn exactly as described and reversed into a parking spot back at the DMV. It did take my third and final try though but I got in successfully.

The guy I had was super chill and funny, I didn’t do a k turn, but I backed in to the right luckily there were no cars next to the spot 😎 whole test was about 13 minutes, I recommend going at an early time like 7:45 right when it opens, it gets pretty busy around 8:15

In the begining the speed limit sign isnt posted until you go up a little bit, so did you immedietly go 25 or did you go 45 cause that is what the sign says later up ahead

@@sagemadara7681 I’m pretty sure your only allowed to go 2 over the speed limit but I was mostly in 25 mph zones so it was pretty easy to maintain & I took a right out of the dmv and immediately sped up to 45 mph and the time it took me to do so I was already approaching the sign. Trust me you will be fine, I rescheduled mine about 5 times thinking I wasn’t ready, and turns out I was stressing over nothing.

Do you get points off if you dont do hand over hand or the push and pull method. I have trouble with hand over hand and I have no idea what method i use to turn but ik i keep both hand on the wheel

@@sagemadara7681 yes keep both hands on the wheel and if your having trouble with hand over hand technique then use the push and pull method which is basically the same thing just learn how to practice Every time you drive practice makes perfect always remember that it is practice that helps you pass nothing else practice your following distance practice your parallel check your mirrors check behind on your right side with your right arm on the passenger chair checking behind you obey the posted speed limit no slower no faster keep it at the exact speed if you go over 1mph you can always slow down remember my dmv instructor Lisa told me 10 MPH under the speed limit is a critical error and can fail you stop behind the white line on stop signs and double stop again just to play safe you got this!

Yesterday was my Road Test at Hamden and I FAILED the test after she told me my driving was fine. what failed me?She told me my car was on the solid white line for turning left. and that failed me Okay it was 3:30 kinda traffic around the area and i am not from the place( an hour and half away) there was a CT Transit bus in front of me, she told me to turn left last minute , like she said turn left, and the DMV was right there, the bus was kinda like blocking the entrance so i was waiting then when the bus moved she saw my car was on the white line, i really dont have enough time to adjust my car since the dmv was right there and i am behind the big bus. At the 4 way stop i always stop behind white line, then i couldn't see so i move slowly, and she freaked out that i am not stopping, well she was looking around the area and she didn't realize i already full stop. i look left right left, no car! about to turn left there is a car coming and the car did not stop at the stop sign so i stop coz i dont know if she see me turning left coz if not what gonna happened "Collision" the examiner doesn't seems to like that. " i thought another rule of the road is safety, 3. Over Looking = well we were coming in the residential area, she said i am over looking, like my head is moving, she said just move your eyes, well sometimes i need to move my head to see, coz i am only 5feet on a SUV car, and i am also really careful especially residential area, coz I HAVE KIDS, my son always run to the road and wont listen. BACK TO DMV i already park the car i did backing in and there was a man waiving at me saying Good job backing in, ofc i don't want to be rude so i said "thank you sir" and the examiner gave me this witchy look that i cheated or did horrible things lol. Funny thing is when we are just starting leaving DMV i saw my Husband and i waived at him and i told the examiner i am with my Husband and when we were done at the parking lot the examiner told me "GET YOUR FRIEND " lol well i guess she wasn't paying attention. lol Well i am 29 y/o married and with 2 kids so if i am driving with them in the car, I have to be careful and make sure they are safe, and what worried me now? my learners permit is expiring soon and i couldn't make another appointment because DMV seems booked until next year.

Similar thing happened to me today!!!.. The lady was so rude... she was yelling at me!!!.. She asked me to turn left last minute!!! Then said I din't stop on a stop sign,which I did!!! And she said that I crossed double yellow line,it's 10:30am saturday,the road was so clear,how will I miss staying in my lane??!!... and I was avoiding pot holes,and she was like "what are you doing?!!" The same thing back to DMV, I said I'm with my husband..when she stepped out of the car she told me "You come inside,then tell the guy you are with to move the car!!!.. When she hand me over my papers I dont wanna look at her anymore or talk to her,.. I was so upset not because I failed the test but upset because I tolerated her yelling at me for 12 mins.!!!

Yes I’ve taken it it went awesome I went in very afraid and make sure when you make the right at the dmv the speed limit is 45 now a lot of people say do 35 but DO NOT!!! I repeat DO NOT because my examiner lady that was with me her name was Lisa and she told me if you go any where below 10 MPH below the speed limit you can fail so Keep it at 45 even 40 the right at the dmv and then the left in residential areas would be 25 MPH

Just took mine and passed! Be very aware of the instructor's instructions and practice doing your best at backing into a parking spot. Relax, it's not as intense as you think, know all of the rules of the law and you will pass with flying colors :)

Matthew Krusinski I failed! The lady was nice (she talked a lot which was helpful and weird and because of coved the windows have to be down so my hair was in my face.) and the route was short and easy. But I was on the line when I reverse parked! I got a minor error for Turing fast apparently, I should have used my brakes more and I stopped at a four way stop good but moved up to see, but u don’t have to if everyone is stopped. I didn’t have a route with lights or anything it was pretty easy just one adjustment messed me up! They might have you park next to no cars so have your mirrors adjusted so you can see the lines when parking. I’m going to retake mine at a driving school since everything is booked up till November. Wasn’t super nervous which gave a good sign to the instructor and I could tell she didn’t want to fail me but she had to.

How far away from the side of the spot do they usually have you for the backing in parking? I have my test next month in Hamden and I am struggling with that part.

@@shantelmcintyre8041 yes I did paas. I didn't do the backing in portion at the dmv. I did up the road in the parking lot where the chinese restaurant and a church is on state street. There is a cone where the guy made me back in. I drive a small car so I pulled up 2 spots ahead and reverse from there. Was able to do it in 1 try. Good luck

I took mine the other day and no all you have to do is reverse park, the video says K turn but the instructor didn’t have me do one but be prepared just in case and the route was a little different

@@lucamange8473 I don’t remember what mask he was wearing… he was nice enough but when giving directions he would use words describing where to turn or whatever… I didn’t really like that bc it’s hard enough I’m nervous so it didn’t help. I will be going to the Waterbury one instead to take my test

Hello, I have my road test in August..My main problem is maintaining speed limit..I am confused about speed limit posted on State street...speed limit right from dmv after a point shows 45mph so what speed limit we should drive after turning right from dmv ...anybody who has taken recently pls help...

@@johnpeccerillo4747 Oh..this route speed limit is bit confusing ...as it says 45mph or is it that we maintain 35 and will be asked to left into Hubbard place? I guess 45 is for those heading straight...

Anjana Shetty yeah it made me fail. 35mph is coming from new haven side an stops at Hamden 45mph speed limit sign down the road. Use the google street image to see each street speed limit that’s what I did

The route is literally similar to the one shown , lasted about 7 minutes the instructor had me go around the block basically . So down state street leaving the dmv ... right out of the dmv parking lot . ... a little down the road , first left and then basically around the area , coming out ending back on state street just imagine a big loop around .. one of the streets I was driving my instructor made me do a 3 point turn ( k turn ) and then literally as we got back to the dmv had me back into the parking spot they have for the testers ... this is coming from someone who has really bad anxiety the test wasn’t bad at all ... I passed very well only did one thing wrong which was park a distance to the curb before doing the k turn . Hope this helps !!! And good luck !!!
