my appointment was at 2:40 but i went at like 1:50(they didn’t say authentic abt me being early). the actual driving lasted 12 minutes and i got 0 wrong it was so easy. This is my exact route i took. - [ ] right on canterbury (backing) - [ ] right on terra bella - [ ] right on woodman avenue - [ ] van nuys (lane change) - [ ] right on pinney - [ ] left on obeck - [ ] right on canterbury - [ ] left on plummer? - [ ] left on woodman - [ ] left on van nuys - [ ] right to dmv (lane change)

Took my test there today. A few things: - Be there at least 30 min before appointment, the lines are pretty long because of covid-19 (even for people with appointment, but dont worry you'll get your turn!). - The instructors seemed super busy and a bit overworked, which means they weren't all that pleasant. At least mine wasn't. - The drive is pretty short (12 minutes or so) and not difficult. There should be no suprises, just some intersections, residential areas ect...I recommend doing it in the morning for even less traffic. - There will be one parking and backing up section. Mine was at the 2 minute mark almost right after exiting the DMV, so it happens early. I lost a lot of points there because I usually rely on the backup-camera, which is of course not allowed. My instructors exact words were "If you use the camera, we will go right back to the DMV and I'll fail you". Make sure to practice that! - There were about 4 traffic lights on my drive. All of them red and I had to make right turns at red on three of them. Make sure you know your right of way rules. - In the beginning there is a residential street with speed bumps. I lost a point because I was going too slow in-between the bumps. Make sure to be at 20 or 23 in between the bumps, but brake softly down to 15 before going over them. This might be the hardest part actually, but it's a pretty empty street. The cars in front of you and behind you will most likely be fellow driving students, if there are any. - Really, it's nothing you shouldn't already know. Your drive to the DMV was probably more challenging than the actual test. I practiced for maybe 20 hours total before taking the test and still passed. You will pass too, no doubt.

hey! thank you talking about your experience!! i have my test next week and i’m freaking out haha. if you don’t mind, can you explain the backing up and parking sections? like did you have to parallel park or do the three point turns?

@@icyc2588 No parallel parking or three point turns. You are asked at one point to park at a curb. Once parked, you are asked to drive backwards for a few feet. DOn't hit the curb, don't park too far away from it, and keep it straight while backing up. Remember to use the turn signals when parking and when going back to the road, as well as doing mirror checks and blind spot checks.

I took the test today. Here are a few things to note (#1 is most important) : 1.Do not tell the instructor that you practiced the route around the DMV. You heard that right. To elaborate, I knew the area and my instructor asked if I practiced on this route. I said “Yes” and he said, “You are not supposed to practice on the route”. I even explained to him that I live less than a mile away from the DMV so I practice around the house. He still said I “shouldn’t” have done it. Sounds kind of stupid, but just keep your mouth shut about practicing around the area. Or maybe I shouldn't have told him either way. So maybe I am stupid. Not sure, but I passed. 2.A lot of people said the instructors are not in a good mood because they are overworked. This is 100% true. My instructor seemed grumpy and overall didn’t seem in a good mood. This is not that important, but just a heads up on that. 3.A lot of people said the test was about 10 minutes. Mine was probably too. Not sure how long exactly, but it was very quick. 4. No parallel parking. You park on the curb and back up. Make sure you don’t hit the curb. 5. A lot of turns. Left turns and right turns in intersections. That's about it.I don’t know where my scoring sheet is so I don’t know what I got wrong. I just remember having marked some points. I say be confident and stay safe.

I live closest to van nuys dmv but that place is notoriously hard but idk I was thinking of trying van nuys first try and then arleta second try if I don’t pass on the first try

1. I took my 2nd attempt here again earlier today and ALLELUIAH I PASSED! 🤍 it’s the exact same route you guys. The test is really fast like 10mins max. 2. For those of you considering to go here to take your test the first time, i’d say GO FOR IT. The instructors here are like super laid back/chill so if they know you drive well, what’s the reason to not pass? right lol. And friendly recommendation: if you fail the first time, no worries go take it again after 2 weeks. You’ll be fine. 2nd&3rd is a charm. And also, I suggest taking it again where you took the test at first so that you’re already familiarize somehow on what to do&not/where to go. That’s what I did. 👌❤️ 3. Lastly, relax. Make sure to breathe and take your time. What I already noticed is that; going back to the DMV here when finishing the test, if you took the longer route than usual (meaning coming from the back portion and not the front parking) meaning you passed. LOL. Trust. Based on experience already here. If the instructor made you go to the front part of DMV and say only 5mins of driving(u will notice if its like really really fast) it’s automatically fail. Whoever’s reading this in the future, you got it. Remember to know & practice everything before the most awaited day. GOODLUCK ✨✨🥰🥰
