I really love this video. I know some days I get up and I'm on board. I work on my books through the entire day, I work on staying conscious and being my higher self so I can change the world. But most days I fall unconscious and lose my drive, and your videos really wake me up. Now I'm writing a book and video series that I go through every day that wakes me up and keeps me conscious so my sliver of a chance to change the world with my life becomes visible. Thankyou for all you do to help change the world Leo.

I've wondered alot about this myself. Granted, I've never allowed myself to be stuck in the same situation too long, that's just boring. And impractical at times. But there is no real meaning with life, and I have zero desire to serve the human race in any way. I've never figured out what's in it for me. *Laughs* And serving... the force I do... It doesn't really provide so much satisfaction in this department either. Oh, I most certainly love in a very, VERY selfish way. What would I gain from caring about someone else? *Raises an eyebrow* But I do value truth. And knowledge. I'd never pretend I care, unless I have a greater scheme. Hey, I do value games... Does that count as any cause? *Chuckles* Art and beauty... I can understand those values too. I do serve a greater force... *Place a hand on my chest making a small bow* But this is non the less a very nice motivational video. *Smiles* Why should you stop being selfish tho? Where's the value in that? *Raises an eyebrow* Oh, I agree that you should have a bigger purpose, but if you follow the darker side, you can still be selfish while doing so. *Chuckles* You have alot of good points even so. ^^ How do you tie the smaller pieces into the bigger cause tho? That's one thing I have always struggled with when it comes to motivation. I know the logic behind it, like how I need to do this to achieve that goal, but it never really works that well, because I can't really feel the existence of the future. (Or the past, I never think back, and I struggle thinking forwards.) Perhaps if I was able to connect it to the cause I serve it might help me staying more motivated to do things I don't want to do. And it took me YEARS of beating to figure out how to do something I don't wanna do. Nobody ever explain this to you, they just tell you to do it. Not helpful. I can't... I found a way to change it so everything I need to do becomes fun, but I still am incapable of forcing myself to do something. Maybe you can do a video on how to do things you don't wanna do? ^^ (Okay, I guess most humans may know this automatically somehow, so I guess maybe not. *Laughs*)

one of your most powerful video. when i was a kid, whats motivate me was watching movies like nightmare on elm street, and there was that girl nancy, only 15 years old, and she was facing things (in her case freddy). even its a horror movie, there was someone who was facing with problems much more scary than mine was. she was scared but she had that drive. :) so even now, i watch some movies like WILD or tv shows like walking dead, where people are facing things much more serious than we do in our daily life.

I understand your points but this direction-thing. Yes it is a good point. But if you have too much drive toward one direction you will miss life. It is like sitting in a car driving in an area filled up with exiting things but cant se it because the car drives too fast! I want to make that point clear. Direction is good but it must be direction in a balanced life. We have needs. Work is a need, love is a need and so on. But too much of the one thing will give a lack on the other thing. Direction in a balanced life is the. Watch out - dont drive too fast. Then you will miss life

I also know and love working through for 24 h or more when I enjoy what I am doing, when a creative process gives SO much back to make you think you could go on forever. Thanks Leo!

Bleeding for anything is literally a pain, they slit your wrist like in the middle ages causing an annoying pain. But that's old-fashioned, that stuff is for losers suckers for not living a good life. I live a great life as it is, adequate food, kingship, creature comforts, and willing to annoy the hell out of my dad for it, I fight for my existence, my beliefs, my way of life, do you think battling for it is great? It's not, it's terrible. I live for the future and it doesn't need a life, my life is peaceful for what I created. I don't want to bleed, I just want peace, like everybody else.

Life is pointless and irrational. The sole function of life is to survive, reproduction is a way to survive over the decaying/changing effects of "time". There is no logic to survival, surviving just to survive just is, there is no purpose or logic to it. Everything we do be it actualization or going to the gym is just a feeling command we are hard wired and probably predetermined to follow in an "attempt" to increase survival probability. My question to you Leo is why do you waste your life trying so hard suffering and bleeding when it all boils down to irrational illogical pointlessness? Why not just exploit the pleasure reward mechanism and minimize the pain and suffering in life and just enjoy this pointless existence as much as possible with as minimal effort as possible? Why follow the instinct in men and one thats very strong in you to rise to the top in some way to make a big difference? Because that instinct was "designed by nature" to work in a group of 30 primates, now if you follow that instinct you have to compete with and impact/beat 3 billion people . The demands are extreme, the chances of making it are extremely low, and its all just a lower brained reptilian impulse you are letting yourself be lead by. Why not just chill out and enjoy life Leo? There are easier ways to feel fulfillment arnt there? I mean you can feel fulfillment by imagining you have reached all your goals even though you havnt and bask in that lovely feeling without having to do any of the hard work!? Btw this video is ace, it got me really motivated and in tune with my causes. But im still unsure of the best way to proceed with life which is why im throwing you this curve ball of a response.
@ActualizedOrg10 жыл бұрын
The hard way is easy. The easy way is hard. Notice the underlying assumption behind your statements: work = bad, rest = good. Actually, it's the other way around. As George Leonard says, the human organism is a machine that wears from lack of use. Hard work is good because you were designed to work hard. Discipline is good because an undisciplined mind can NEVER be happy. Life is meaningless, yes. But that doesn't mean isn't pointless. It literally has no meaning, which means nothing. You are taking meaninglessness to mean something negative, which is actually an assignment of meaning. Your life might be pointless, but mine is not. Your life might be about reproduction and survival, but mine is not. My life is about becoming fully self-actualized. Meaning is whatever you make it, and I choose to live a powerful life. The fact is, you can't ignore it. Like you say, you are programmed. And YOU have been programmed with a NEED to self-actualize. If you ignore it, you will suffer in the worst way: spiritually. Your highest self will rot and destroy you from the inside out. Maybe you've met people like this? It's really heartbreaking and ugly. Those people are the most miserable of all. Suffering in pursuit of self-actualization can be enjoyable. Suffering in pursuit of laziness and nihilism is true hell. What I am doing and promoting is exactly what you propose: maximizing the reward mechanism. But if you think you can truly maximize it by being pointless and lazy, you are wrong. That's too simplistic. That approach fails to appreciate the subtlety, depth, and aspirational aspects inherent to the human organism. Do you want to be like Nietzsche and Elvis, or do you want to be like Socrates and Buddha? The choice is entirely yours. Who do you think was happier? Chilling out is great. But don't mistake chilling out with being lazy. Having a life purpose and discipline is necessary to be happy. Those monks you think aren't ambitious... Wrong! They are some of the most ambitious and disciplined people in the world. To be a poor starving monk is to have deep purpose and cause. If you can become fulfilled by simply imagining all your goals, then by all means do it. But I have found that it is impossible to become fulfilled without the hard work and discipline required to master your own psychology. As Joseph Campbell says, going on the hero's journey is not some vain exercise of ego-stroking. It is the most important thing you can do. To refuse the call is to betray your humanity.
