Mind blowing! Easily explained by biology if you consider on average, females weigh less and have more lean muscle than bulk, and a higher body fat percentage. This would mean less force required to stay above water. Neil doesn't use those same rational explanations applied to males and their exceptional abilities in almost every other sport, and you can tell by his emoting, that it's tickling his cognitive dissonance.

But physics IS part of this. As an example: the classic force = mass X acceleration. Male puberty gives thicker bones and greater mass. Acceleration is also greater, but even when made equal it would create a difference in force that can be applied to various actions in a sport. Neil is aware.

I think the problem with this discussion is that people are using terminology in a way to suggest things that can be understood in more than one way. I'm NOT saying they are truly misunderstanding, but rather they are using language in a manner that obscures the topic. For example, the term "women" has been used by those who subscribe to the transgender ideology, so for a scientific publication to say "women" begs the question of whether or not the mean the term in it's proper sense or are they redefining it to align with with trans ideology. Either way, the term "inequity" as applied to sports could be skewed to mean pay or prestige, rather than the level of athletic performance intensity. For example, in sports that require accuracy as opposed to strength and speed, it would seem logical to assume the females wouldn't demonstrate much difference in capability as compared to males. However, when Neil is talking about this, he's skewing the discussion towards "leveling the field", which basically could mean that we handicap males or limit the scope of athletic activity so as not so permit males to benefit in the SCORING of points based upon strength and speed. Also the word "better" would be argued to imply that men are more worthy than women, but it's irrelevant. Unfortunately, you have to constrain the scope of the conversation to say things like "are men generally substantially taller and more muscular, ON AVERAGE, than women?". Now at that point, they will immediately pivot to say "well that's due to our own choices, since we favor men who are stronger and taller". Basically, they're implying that we could self-select taller, muscular women to mate with shorter, less muscular men in order to produce a different physiological outcome. But biology wouldn't make this happen, since the reasons for sexual dimorphism is biological and all that would happen is this couple would have children where the males would end up being taller and stronger, on average, than the female children. We would simply self-select ourselves into a stronger over population but men would still end up being stronger and taller, on average, than females.
