“100 Percussion Instruments” Lyrics:
I’m a local rap legend playin’ my boobam
Clappin ma' hands, steel pans, gongs, and my tam-tam
Timbale or Timbal? How ‘bout a water gong?
Pallet drum, practice pad, pixiphone and pantalon
Sound the siren, honk the Taxi Horn
I be Slappin' that conga just like I’m Davie504 (epic)
Marimba, Kalimba, Zabumba, Bata Drum, Bell Tree, Berimbau
Bongo, Bell plate, Shaker, Cuica, Whistle, Whip, and Xylorima
“Woo” goes the train whistle, “Scratch" goes the Turntables
“Boom” Bass Drum, “Gack” snare drum, “Skow Skow” tenors
Anvil, Caxixi, a cymbal with the sizzle
Play with my slit drum and blow on my slide whistle
Sleigh Bells, Surdo, Tabla, Wind Chimes, Hi Hat, Rattle
Triangle, Cymbal Stack, Djembe, Crash Cymbal, Clay Drum, Crotale
Chimes and Handbells and Roto Tom jammin
More cowbell and a mother Flippin cannon
Tom Tom, Thunder Sheet, North Drum, Timpani
Flexitone, Stick Clicks, Egg Shaker all I need
Glockenspiel is so fun to say
Gimme Clave, Guirro, Slap Stick, Hand Pan, China Cymbal any day.
Hey guess what! I betcha didn’t see
Your Body is percussion and that includes your peepee
Glass Harp and Vibes and a marching machine
With my floor gang PewDiePie tambourine
Ride Cymbal, Splash Cymbal, Lion’s Roar, Suspended Cymbal
Cuica, Cabasa, Beat Boxing, Shekere, Rainstick, and Mark Tree
Octobans and cajon's what I need
With my Boomwacker, Frame Drum, and wind machine
Brake Drum, Maracas, Castanets
With my Vibraslap and Finger Cymbal, I say bet
Ocean Drum, Log Drum, Taiko, Agogo
Never leave home without my cricket and my xylophone
Practice all day every day or you be tic kin’
But the best of all is the Chicken

I love all of the collaborations and reaction videos musicians are making on KZbin about which instrument is the hardest, and 99% of the videomakers and viewers all know it's ironic. But it should still be regularly said and understood that every instrument is just as hard to master as any other, and your skill is proportional to how much work/time you dedicate to learning your specific instrument. When talking about which is harder, there are some things only a person who's spent years learning to play guitar can do for example, and some things only a person who's spent years learning to play drums can do.

As a percussionist I gotta agree but also disagree to a point. Basically anyone with moderate music background could probably play 6th grade level snare piece. It really depends at to what degree of percussion we talking about. Because like we talking about 6th grade level, a violinist could probably pick up two drumsticks and play it easy. Where as once we get up into the harder stuff, it gets way harder. You can't really say which instrument is harder bc they all require different skills to a degree. Playing percussion good absolutely is not easy.
@oobernoober7617
@oobernoober7617 4 жыл бұрын
@@samtrent825 no I wouldn't give them credit for a sixth grade snare piece that could have flams, rolls and paradiddles. I would say they could play a 4th grade snare piece, possibly a 5th grade.

Yes, you can. I've used drum sticks to play the bass before, by using the rebound of the stick to strike strings at different notes and times, and created a pretty cool bass line while doing it.

My band instrument is the tuba which is the “Brass Bass” so I’m team bass and percussion. I also play upright bass so once again team bass and percussion! I also play the Dobro which is cooler than the guitar!

In theory you must master even more than 100 percussion, because a xylophone is made of wood, but you could have instruments that are basically a xylophone but made of almost any other material that wont break while you hit it with the mallet.

I don't know if you mentioned wood/temple blocks but I believe there's also almglocken, (tuned cowbells) church bells, suspended wood bell (used in Penderecki), plant pots (for a piece by Iannis Xenakis), parade drum, military gun (used in Prokofiev), bag of knives and forks + hi-hats (Thomas Ades), tuned bongos(!), duck's quack, nightingale whistle...I don't know what else there is but the tuned bongos is quite rare but if you research some contemporary (avant-garde) classical composers they call for some very interesting percussion!

I used to go to percussion classes and do percussion exams and perform with percussion but just because I had to have some "main instrument" to study composition. I've never had a "main instrument" in mylife, although recently I've been much more into the mandolin, which I guess would be closer to Violin Gang.

I'm also in percussion though I'm a 7th grader- I started in 5th grade. I played the base drum when marching in a parade (I had it strapped on me and everything lol), a rototom in Louie Louie, snare in The Battle from The Chronicles of Narnia, triangle in "An Olde English Christmas" Suite, and tambourine, triangle, wood block, and sleigh bells in Variations on a French Carol. I mostly did snare in 6th grade because my percussion teacher made us do that but we still learned everything on bells/ glock. Now, in 7th grade, I'm in the top band (symphonic band) in the middle school but I still have to work with all the other percussionists (including the really trashy ones who in in the lowest band [there are 3 bands]) and it's really annoying. Although, my new percussion teacher is making a whole ONLY PERCUSSION CONCERT. Super cooool. The song I get to play in the 7th and 8th grade ensemble is the vides and then I have two back up vides, which are literally the worst people you could ever get to have to play with. I could go into depth but I won't. The concert is in a week from yesterday. It's super professional. We dress up like we would be in an orchestra concert. Anyway, I'm suddenly really good at key board instrument after trying out for all region. Right now, I'm a little stressed with band because we got our solo and ensembles earlier this week and my solo is kinda difficult because almost everything I play are 16th notes. If you wanna look up what my solo is, it's called City Streets from Shazam. And the contest is April 10th. And then we have UIL, which we haven't gotten the music yet and the contest is on April 23. And then we have our Spring concert in May and we are doing 3 songs. And the percussionists never get to play with the band. Ahhhh. It's a lot in a short amount of time. Oh yeah, and it's in STARR testing season too soooooooooo I have to do all of that. Sorry, I'll shut up now. I tend to get in a ramble when talking about band.
