Hey Booktube, I've bought like 90 books so far this year and in order for them not to end up in my "read it or unhaul it" jar, I need to read them ASAP! You choose! What are the books I should add to my November TBR? I need your recommendations!

____ MEET THE KITTIES ____
Mama Cat: Perséphone (Pear). Took her in while pregnant due to a neighbour neglecting her. All black. Has thumbs. Pretty sure she's a dove.
1: Charlie: All black with no thumbs. He thinks he's spiderman and climbs in the window screens. His favorite snack is wtv book I'm currently reading.
2: Clawdia: Black and white with a beauty mark. She has thumbs... wouldn't surprise me if she stole them. She's pure chaos but she purrs and cuddles me so it's fine.
3: Chunky: Black with a white patch on his chest. Has thumbs. Needy, crusty, whiny baby... can't live without him.

I liked Iron Widow--I am finding it's not *super* memorable months later, but it's YA, they don't get super in-depth with the characters, it's largely about female rage and revenge, and it's fun.

The 22 murders of ?? (i can't remember the rest of that title - but its one of the time loop ones!) looks interesting! Also, Marilyn Frye would be cool to read - especially if you're in the mood to juxtapose 2nd wave feminism to contemporary!

I am personally in a big sci-fi mood right now so I would selfishly love it if you could pick up something in that genre! 😏 I read Wool recently but didn’t pick up Shift right away so now who knows when I will! The Mountain in the Sea looks and sounds amazing 😮 🐙and I had never heard of The Gate of Women’s Country.

Interview with a Vampire has been a favorite book of mine since I was 12. Highly recommend. It's a little melodramatic, but I recently read that the author wrote it shortly after her young daughter died suddenly, and she kind of used it as a catharsis. So it makes sense that it's melodramatic. The Deep is also amazing. I honestly wish it was longer, that's my only "complaint".

I LOVED Can't Spell Treason Without Tea, but it has a little more plot in it than a book like Bookshops & Bonedust. Still cozy, but not no plot just vibes. Helm of Midnight is WEIRD. But I kinda dug it? Jasmine Throne is SO GOOD. I hope you end up liking it! Blood Over Bright Haven is just so good & so painful (ML Wang seems really good at that).

@@BookswithEmilyFox I still have a student edition of Madame Bovary where the text is blue on a white page. I still don't know who decided that would be a good idea. Honorable mention to my student edition of Germinal that left out the most famous scene in the book bc the edition was from the 50s and the editors had deemed it inappropriate, just like a scene that *hinted* at an extramarital affair.

I can't remember if you read Agatha Christie before, but please don't give up on her yet! In my experience her writing style is something you have to get used to. After a few books you start to 'get it' and you'll start to see her hints and patterns, which makes reading her books so much more fun, because you might be able to guess who did it! The books you had there are great! Other good ones are 'And then there were one' and 'A murder is announced'.

I absolutely LOVE Ella Enchanted. It was the first book to bring me to tears and the first one I reread almost immediately. I am NOT a re-reader, but I’ve read that one at least 3 times. One thing I have to mention: DON’T WATCH THE MOVIE. However, IF you DO want to watch the movie, read the book FIRST and then go into the movie expecting something with a completely different tone and vibe and a lot less nuance. It was my first adaptation I was super excited for and my worst disappointment also. I will stay mad at that movie for life 😅

Emily I recently read Interview with the vampire, I liked it but to be honest I enjoyed the TV show so much to the point the novel dulled in comparisons for me. Not saying it was bad, both the book and the show were excellent, I was just taken aback by some of the differences in the book other wise I really enjoyed the discussions surrounding mortality, faith, human nature and beauty from the point of view of an immortal being. If you don't plan on picking up the book anytime soon I would like to suggest to you to give the amc tv show a try. It's very beautiful and well done.
