I bought one of these this May and have been surprisingly more pleased than I thought. At first we bought it because nobody else had any inventory and I was not going to wait 18 months or longer for a Toyota or a Kia/Hyundai. Took a road trip from Ontario to the US Midwest last month and I have yet to put any gasoline in it since returning 6 weeks ago! Currently have just shy of 5000 kms on it and I've filled the gas tank only 3 times, including our road trip, and still have a quarter tank! Been averaging 4.7 liters/100km, so far. With remote control from the iPhone App I can fully heat or cool this vehicle up on the house current so it's ready to go when I'm ready to do. Very pleased, especially with not having to buy much gas for it.

I am looking between the Outlander PHEV and the RAV4 Prime as well; how do you find the quality of the build? Are the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEVs made in Japan? I've heard lots of mixed reviews on the long-term reliability on this car and Mitsubishi in general and this is what's currently preventing me from pulling the trigger. Any comments you can provide is greatly appreciated!
@RajSingh-if6dk Жыл бұрын
I own a 2023 model and yes it is built in Japan. This is my second Outlander PHEV after I traded my 2018 model for one that looks like the one in this review. 😍 It consistently gets more looks than the 2019 Cayenne e-hybrid that my wife drives, although the Porsche interiors are amazingly nice in comparison (albeit at twice the MSRP). I also like how Mitsubishi gives you all the Active Cruise Control suite as part of a tech bundle and don't make you pay for each of these as stand alone option( my biggest gripe with some of the German marques.) I have had no issues with reliability or build quality with either of my Mitsubishi PHEV and the new model has certainly stepped up it's game in terms of interiors.@@andrewng6059

I’ve now had my 2023 Outlander PHEV for a few months. I love it! So economical. I’ve done 2500 kms so far and have only used 13 litres of petrol! You can get the range up to 82 kms on EV only if you switch it into eco mode and use one pedal driving. I live in New Zealand and It costs me about $3 to fully charge it up… so I’m spending about $17-20 a week on electricity… and our petrol prices are $3.10 per litre! So I’m saving over $500 a month if I had the same vehicle in ICE mode. But when you want to drive to more remote areas, where charging stations are few and far between, there’s no range anxiety.

Working for Mitsubishi for a few uears opened my eyes to them and I really hope the company succeeds and doesn't just collapse into Nissan. I worked at a large dealership in thr gold coast, australia, that sells Mitsubishis, and these came out not long after i started working there and i was genuienly really suprised by it. Coming straight from the previous gen to this was night v day. I hate the previous gen, boring, Souless, really dislike them, this deletes the negatives and builds on the positives. No suprise these spawned out of nowhere so quickly in australia.

Definitely take it over the Rav4 without waiting a year. Outlanders are awesome. Regular or Sport. Actually Outlander Sport is the true Outlander. They should let Outlander Sports have the Outlander name. And they should rename Outlanders to Overlanders and make them 6 inches longer, so that the third row is legit.

i had the rav4 on my watchlist but the outlander will be replacing it. the outlander seems like more of a better buy at the price point. i'd prefer to go for the model with the least amount of electronic driver aids. i cant stand lane keep assist, stop/start, collision warning etc. etc.

I own one since December and I love the car, but I learned a few things that is not is great: Once the gas engine kicks in, even if you battery is full, it will take a VERY long time to turn off, for no reason The B mode will turn on the gas engine if your battery is more than half full. Then you fall into the same issue above (using gas when you have plenty of battery) EV priority mode is disabled if you have less than 25% of gas, even if your battery is full. EV real range is around 45 to 55km, on a good day
@RP-vu5uj Жыл бұрын
I think you need some adjustments to how you use the EV mode. To turn off the gas engines during B mode, ensure you switch back to B2 or lower (B1 or B0), then switch to EV mode - the ICE will turn off within 1 - 2 mins. Also it’s not true that EV mode is disabled under 25% gas in the tank. As a matter of fact, a lot of us only fill up to 1/3 tank to avoid forced use of ‘stale’ fuel after 3 months of not filling up. EV range is reliably in the low 70 kms for us here in New Zealand if not more, based on weather and A/C or heater use in mixed city and highway drives.

I love my Rally Art Mitsubishi PHEV Outlander. It actually gives me 45 miles on EV only, and now I have to worry about using the gas so that I can change it out every 3 months. The mudflaps and artwork give it an 80s/early 90s kind of look with a modern build. I was originally looking for a Toyota Rav4 Prime, but for the price and features, I'm super happy with my Outlander purchase. I highly recommend that you consider a test drive if you're looking for a similar SUV. I couldn't be happier, and can't wait to take it out camping with my family.

HELP PLEASE! I’m on the fence. A few questions questions.: 1) I hear the driver seat isn’t all that comfortable after sometime driving? 2) I hear there’s no real air conditioner fan in the back seat. It doesn’t blow air. 3) there are issues with it, heating the cabin? something about the design? 4) I’ve heard the car might not turn on if it’s too cold 5) The steering makes an uncomfortable drive 6) is there anything else I should know about? 7) do you have any regrets? 8) have you had any major issues?

@batmama4242 1 year after purchasing my outlander and I have zero regrets, and still highly recommend it. Drives great, great mileage, comfortable, ac and heaters work great and I still think it ranks above the rav 4 and any competitors. The only thing is the third row seats are quite small, but they fit my 6 and 8 year old fine when I bring my parents or in-laws on rides with us.

I want Mitsubishi to succeed! not sure if Nissan is holding them back or helping them but I wish this Outlander had more Mitsubishi-esk design rather than borrowing from the Rogue, which is an OK car but considering their reputation I would love to see an Outlander design from the ground up by Mitsubishi rather than copy and modify a model from another company. To me is just sad some car companies have to do this to stay competitive it lacks innovation IMO.

I wish PHEVs would offer a solar roof option. Is it going to get you accross country? No Is it going to extend your range? Yes The average SUV has enough roof space that a bright summer day will see around 8kWh over a 9-10 hour work day which is just shy of some L1 chargers.

There is NO CVT in the Mitsubishi PHEV.
@ClydeThaMonkey Жыл бұрын
Not a CVT tho. It's one gear gearbox that works only at 70km/h, before that its just a gasoline engine at optimal revs powering the generator who then powers the electric engines.

I bought one at the start of the summer (2023). I got 9000 miles on the clock and love it. comfortable for road trips but the gas mileage kinda sucks when you are out of electricity. That third row is the idea of a third row, like they said not very practical. If it was removeable it would give you room and take weight out. I go a thousand miles on a quarter tank of gas in Pinellas county, mind blowing
@man_on_wheelz Жыл бұрын
Interesting, my mom just bought a 2023 normal gas Outlander, switching from her 2021 Outlander Sport which also had the CVT transmission. Her old car had a similar CVT to this where it just screams at you till you get to the desired speed. But the Outlander she has now which is just the gas-only version of this, also has a CVT, but they make it mimic a traditional transmission giving you the experience of shifting gears as you speed up. I wonder what did they do different from the regular version to the PHEV.

Due to the scarcity of the dealers in my area test driving and purchasing an Outlander phev was a challenge. Ended up in a Hyundai santa fe hybrid that I’m very satisfied with so far, but think I might have gone for one of these if a dealer had been more convenient to access. I do lots of short trips so could have feasibly filled up once every couple months. I do like taking long trips often through the year so that’s why I wanted a hybrid vs a full electric suv.

Honestly, i thought Mitsubishi was going to be the next brand to exit from north america after Suzuki. This Outlander is a looker for sure. I haven't experienced the interior first hand but everything looks really nice. The only thing I wonder is how well will the materials hold up? Also, Mitsu is top ten in JD power dependibility(6th), ranking higher than their partner, Nissan.
