Worth considering: On the 20 series cards, the RGB and power controllers all communicate with the GPU on the same I2C bus. It's possible to cripple the power monitoring and force the card into safety (non-boost) mode by shorting the I2C bus pins on the fan connector of the reference board. So, that RGB chip itself may not be that interesting, but having it not screw up actually is pretty important.

I just checked and the gaming x trio version has an 8 phase vrm. I would be willing to send you my "non-lhr with resizable bar bios" 3060 ti gaming x trio if you or anyone can figure out a way of me getting another decent card without spending ten million dollars and putting in hours of work to find one like I did for the one I have. depends on the connectors. The ones on this card are pretty loose. I have other cards that I always pry open.

Really there was nothing other than a little aorus aztec bird figure, which was cool I guess but there wasn’t even an instruction booklet or anything with it. I also bought myself a 3060Ti. Nearly same trashpcb like yours. I wasnt able to remove the powerlimit by stacking an other 5mOhm. I mean. Card reports way less "board power draw" but still knows that it draws too much and stuck in the powerlimit. Im really curious if you are able to remove the Powerlimit like completely! And I hope I can do that also to my card, afterwards.

I've got an RX 6600XT XFX Merc for about $490 U.S. in Turkey which translates into 400 quids I guess. (after 9549595 trials of searching thru and finding any card that's available) It really performs great for 1440p gaming although my main focus is not gaming with it but rather have a decent silent graphics card that doesn't suck just in case I want to play video games from time to time. It was a decent upgrade from rx 580 for sure. I overclocked it to 10% + power limit and to 2800 mhz core and 2150mhz memory. Got a decent 10% performance boost in the two games I tested it with. I gave it a good fan curve and it's running at 150-170w of power and it's extremely silent. The max edge temp I've seen was 64C and hot spot was 78C on a very hot summer day with 28-30C ambient room temperature. It's extremely silent I can't hear anything at all. I'm just impressed with it's cooler. So I'm pretty sure that MSI card you've got over there can do pretty much the same thing if not better. I guess you'll be fine man.

@@starrims Just try increasing the memory frequency by 100-150 mhz and run some benchmarks like port royal, fire strike and whatnot, if it does not crash keep increasing it by 10-20 mhz until it crashes and find your stable spot that way. I was not too curious as this card has samsung memory I thought It'd do just fine. I've been testing it with various gaming sessions, Doom 2016, Doom Eternal and Destiny two for like a few days and 2 hours 3 hours max a day. It has never crashed with 150mhz+ OC on memory. So I think you can do pretty much the same. My overclock is not too extreme. You can probably do about the same without tweaking any memory timings.

I could have told you that MSI´s cards this gen was a 7phase, MSI dropped the ball on the VRM on everything cept their Supreme X cards this gen, in fact it seems like hte cards to get this gen was the TUF gaming, and the Gigabyte Gaming OC, if you wanted decent vrm/value/overall card quallity. I didnt know jack about ANY of the 3060Ti this gen, and i had to act fast when i got my card, so i ended up with a ventus 2x since tuf was already sold out and gaming X + Gaming oc was considerable more expensive, little did i know that the ventus X2 oc, have a bios lock/oc lock, and a 7 phase shitty vrm. :-( , in retrospect i should have bouth the gigabyte gaming oc for the 30-40usd more.

I just recently bought this 3060 TI and I have a PowerColor 5700 XT Red Devil in my main PC and I'm at a cross roads.... I Edit 4k video and play games on my PC and IDK to keep the Red Devil or switch it out with this 3060 TI? My PC has a X570 Tuf Plus Ryzen 5800X 850W PSU I know overkill, Full custom water loop. I feel they would be the same in the end you know? 17:10 you mention MSI and instantly it dawns on me why the 7phase makes sense, it's MSI, lol. maybe there is a chance adding the power stage and inductor may work, them extra two missing cans wouldn't hurt to populate. then again, there is probably a bunch of SMT resistors around the controller to ad for the 8th phase sense and control stuff. and worst of all, being a MSI they probably don't have a firmware for an 8-phase 3060ti gaming x, hmm. 18:00 your thinking the same thing I am, not worth the aggravation, lol.

I have this card. installed it 1 weeks ago. This morning my PC wouldn't boot. Tried reseating numerous times, using different 8 and 6 pins from the power supply, etc. Put my 1660 back in and boots up fine. Card lasted 5 fucking days. I faithfully signed up for the Newegg shuffle every day for over a year to get it. I'm livid and I'm heartbroken. Zero overclocking. Temps never went above 49C cause I never got a chance to actually game on it.

Iv been relay disappointed by the lack of GPU reviews this gen, every time I look I can only find reviews for the top few cards. Most gen's it's been fairly easy to find reviews, relay annoying. edit- referencing your disappointment on not knowing what the VRM was before you got the card, pain not to be able to see PCB shots and get info. I find it fun just to see reviews & PCB info.
