When you enter the last code, do you have to turn the key back off before you start it?

Is there a model or brand, knock-off or original that programs most vehicles? I'm servicing 1990-2010 consumer level vehicles, lot of fords, GM, nissans, toyotas, etc. My chinese copy SBB only works on fords and honda/acura so far.

I just did this on my car. Its a Honda Element. I got the "immobilizer brake code" from my Honda dealer. Those guys just needed my title and insurance and no problem they gave me the code. I preformed these steps but they didn't work. I tried them many times with the "foot brake". Then I used the "hand brake" to input the codes and that did it. Started it up no problem.

AWESOME video series, especially the sidebar explanations. What kind of programming device do you use? I'm using a knock-off SBB and the price was great but so far its failed to program Chrysler and Mazda. What do you recommend for a guy whos just getting into auto servicing?

@MrBakerDavid Thanks for your comment. There are several vehicle manufacturers that produced vehicles with "Emergency Start" procedures. Although the principle issue is the same; they all utilize different methods, and have various requirements. But for Honda/Acura...this is the principle process. I am in a situation where my daughter has the only master key with remote for her Acura 2004 TL. She is currently out of town and took her Acura key with her by mistake. I have the Valet key for her Acura TL but it does not seem to be programed with her TL. I tried calling the Acura dealership where I bought the TL from and asked if I could have the Brake Code to move her car into the garage to trickle charge the car's battery while she is away for the next week. The Acura dealership had no idea what I was talking about. They said that they have never heard of the Brake Code before and therefore could not help me. I hope I do not need to jump start the TL when she gets home.

From experience working in a Honda parts department, the majority of the time we were instructed to play dumb about “Brake Codes” because of the numerous calls we would get about them not working from owners who just didn’t understand how to enter them.

Thanks for watching. Nowadays, there are several equipment items that are available (inexpensive), that can be used to program Chrysler vehicles, and others for Mazda. Mazda made a tricky change to its immobilizers, making it a bit more challenging to decode for the "Secret Word" used to program the older models. Chrysler has made several changes also. I recommend: notice the cars in your area, and choose a few to start servicing. Get your gear for them. Thanks, Will

Hello, and thanks for viewing my channel. You can obtain the "Key Code", and "Brake Code", from the Parts Dept. of you Acura Dealership. They just need to see "Proof of Ownership." You can also have them cut a key for you. Then you can drive your car to them for service. Thanks again. I hope this will help you.

Is it the same 5 digit code the dealership gives from the 8 digit code on back of radio? Try to FIND a dealership that doesn't tell you "You have to have it towed in we have to see it." I called 5 dealerships before one would even attempt to help me. Rip off artists. I live 200 mls from a dealer=$300 tow bill. thanks for info.

Hello Mitchell. Yes, this procedure should be used as an "emergency start" process. Me, highlighting the subject, is to make Acura/Honda owners "aware" of such, in the event of an emergency. Bear in mind; you "must" be able to obtain the proper "code" that makes this procedure work. This is not intended to assist in auto theft. I called my Acura Dealership in Tampa and they thought I was crazy because they never heard of this code and after 2 plus hours I finally found a guy name George in the parts dept and he didn't know either but than he asked me "your looking for a code"? and I said yes and he said that is on the service side of the computer and when he transferred over to the service side he saw a tab that said Immobilizer Codes and he clicked in there and entered my VIN and bam I had my 5 digit code to be able to start my car and it worked

You skipped over the very last step. You turn your camera away and then the car is running. I have a 2007 TL and the brake code from the dealer. I've tried this can't get it to work. Sadly, no help here. A waste of time and lacks vital information.

Use your e break instead of foot break . And the e break must not be on before you put the key in

Before starting you must make sure your e break is not on after you do then take the key and put it in the ignition turn key to the start and wait for your brake light to go off once your brake lndicator light is off on your panel now you can turn your car into the start position and then enter your first number of your break code by pushing down your brake pedal that many times or pulling up and putting your e-brake back down the first Okay for an example say your your break code number is 12345 you're going to turn your key on enter one by pushing your brake pedal down one time and releasing or after your first number is complete then you turn your car all the way off and then turn it back to the start position and into your second number and repeat the process until you have reached all the numbers make sure each time you release the brake before you turn the car on the off position and for it to start after you enter the last number you have to make sure to turn it off and back on to start

Big lead up… thanks for showing us where the break pedal is. Didn’t show anything about how to actually perform this. Break pedal not in the scene, just you turning a key off and on. With sus editing. Seems like an important announcement is about to be heard that will affect everyone, and the announce is “ silence .” Cmon man. Follow through.
