This video makes me feel great about buying my recent find. 2002 Type S with 150k for $800. Drove three hours to middle Illinois, it was leaking oil like crazy from the cooler/filter housing, and the seats were trashed. PO thought it was a rear main seal, but it was adult driven,fully stock except for an Injen intake, had maintenance records, and new tires. $800, an oil cooler from a friend, some new base seats, and I’ve got a Type S with no grinds, moderate miles, and an 8,0000 RPM redline. The thing seriously rips.

Thank you all for this video. I was listening to this while driving my new Type-S. Facebook marketplace has proved garbage for these from my experience and long search. Most have been messed with and beat on to hell. If any of you are looking for one, be patient and find a lower mileage clean one, no aftermarket intakes, no aftermarket exhausts, and no accidents or signs of shoddy frame reconstruction which I have seen in person. It's okay to pay more for a good stock, well maintained one because you won't have big problems initially and later down the line.

@@TkKalponi I never bought anything that was bad or modded, I walked away from all of them. And the one I bought, I had a pre-purchase inspection at a shop that tested it by their mechanic and I did a thorough inspection myself and test drive as well.

My type s has plenty of bolt on mods, suspension mods and hondata tune and runs great, never had any serious issues and been extremely reliable. Sounds like you were looking at dogged out ones that careless people owned. These cars seem to be hard to find taken care of and maintained.

Got an 02 with 130,000 for 6000 last year. All maintenance was dealership but they never did the coolant flush or transmission flush for some reason LMFAO. Did the timing chain and tensioner + fluid flushes. Still need to put it on coilovers but it’s been great.

The first one was a k24 swapped rsx, if you notice it had the 2.4l engine cover, could just be a cover but I doubt it.. that engine has a lot of torque for a 2600 pound car

Here in Oregon, all of these for sale have like 200K+ miles and the type s models are way past $10K. Not sure if we are in a bubble in Oregon, but all the prices they talk about are jokes over here. I went with a Celica GT-S instead because while not as nice, I think they look cooler and certainly more reliable. Paid out the ass for mine though, they are not cheap around here.

We got my wife's years ago for 5k with 105k miles. Base auto. Sun damage, needed new seat belts and brakes. Now it has almost 200k and have done- Alternator, brakes again, serp belt tensioner, starter, knock sensor. Not too bad

The RSX is great. I have a turbo RSX-S and daily '05 I got for $1650. Paint sucks and has salvage but had only 130,000kms r about 80,000miles. has about 154,000kms or about 91,000mile snow.

Mine is pretty cool... Has about $30,000 in it.. I have had offers of $25,000 recently. Its AWD tho and boosted.. makes close to 650whp. Built motor and trans. Full Helical PPG gears and Quaife LSD. Its a 5 speed with long gears. Super enjoyable to drive. Garrett g25-660 Turbo. No BS on the body either nor is it slammed.. looks 100% stock on the outside with Aspec Lip kit and I was even able to retain my Honda Access Blue Ion fogs.

@@dyingforcertain I think what it comes down to is impatience and immaturity. I am the original owner of my Type S, and i bought the car at 16. I saved up, put down $4,000 and made payments til it was paid off!.. Unlike other dumb kids, I didnt rush to do anything and throw cheap parts on my car. I took my time, saved for the best of the best, and slowly built the car over many years. The car stayed pristine and classy at all times throughout the process. On top of the impatience causing them to put junk parts on their car, they also get pulled into these dumb trends. Things like slamming their car and cambering their car. All things that harm the car. Me, I couldnt bare to do these things because I paid for my own car out of my own pocket, and there was no way I was going to do ANYTHING to my car that hurt it! lol.. Thank god I was raised properly, taught the value of money and responsibility, and was educated on cars thanks to my father. It is so sad to see so many Type S's all messed up and treated like crap with terrible mods.

Nah, no matter what, the dc5 needs a k24 swap.. K20's are no good for our chassis unless u are doing a dedicated track build. The K24 makes all the difference and the driveability is night and day with the added torque and power. Really, just find the cleanest shell or cheapest type s in general that has a clean body and chassis and just k24 swap it right away. That, and get a cheap base model 5-speed and throw in a LSD and carbon syncros and you are set.

@@Cozmicgrimm if you have everything then go for it. Just saying you can re use some of the A3 parts anyways with minor mods but the A3 I think is more than fine at that hp. A3s with the weak parts fixed and boosted is pretty simple and are known to run bulletproof. I was talking wheel horsepower so 340 wheel is actually about 410 HP at the crank. A mustang gt makes 380 for example at the wheel. Guys are running 11.2 ish quarter mile times with that setup. A new 10r mustang doesnt even do that. Just saying that going upwards of 400 wheel in a fwd car youre gonna hit diminishing returns in work and problems daily driving.

any Type S under $10k is not worth buying.. On top of this, these cars are notorious for scamming and rollbacks.. People swap in wrong engine or internals, swap the trans components, ect.. But there are great finds out there but they wont be cheap. Ive had offers of $25,000 on my 06 Type S.. Its AWD and boosted making 650whp, with built motor and transmission. Chassis has 60k Original miles and is in mint condition. A lot of super rare OEM Honda Access and Aspec parts as well. These clean examples will only continue to go up in value, especially cuz Cali and other woke states are trying to ban all gas cars for EV.

50% of rsx cars sold online are scams. Either rollbacks, shady history, or swapped engine/parts. Some dude tried to sell me a Type S with a K20a3 in it lol.. I pulled the valve cover on purpose just to waste his time and made him have to put it back on while purposely destroying the valve cover gasket lol
