Honda introduced the Civic Si for 2006. They thought the RSX would compete with it so they killed the RSX.
@Swish1655 жыл бұрын
Honda discontinued the RSX as they saw the 2006+ Honda Civic Si is its successor. Tbh the Honda Civic Si and the RSX are essentially the same car just that the Civic has some minor improvements and more features such as an LSD and DBW.

@@mahadragon My question was that why did they had two cars that were so close together in the first place? They also had the si 2004-06 too. I mean to a honda/acura person they'd love that. I certainly like more choices, but on their end. On the flip side, the rsx could had been a good v6 awd hatch coupe or even a rwd car.

Looking at the comments before the video and I already knew what was coming. A lot of you make fun of the guy for being shy/nervous/whatever, but most of you 1. Would be as nervous just as him (just face it) and 2. Don't even have a car. So just shut the fuck up. Anyways, about the video: Really digging the all white theme and the lip on the trunk with zero badges. Looks so clean! I personally wish it had an all black interior, but you gotta work with what you got, right? FWD cars, in my opinion, are such a joy to toss around on a tight road. Some of the pulls Matt did looked really quick! Maybe that's just 60FPS making it look like that, but hearing the engine rev out and looking at road, it looked like that thing moves. Nice car, Harut. I like!

@traktion99 жыл бұрын
Thanks for reviewing an old favorite, it was actually still branded as the Honda Integra back in Japan ending in 2006 and lived up to its name by introducing the new K20 engine which its block is still used today in the K24s they put in the new TL and now 2016 ILX mated to a dual clutch 8 speed auto transmission. The only drawback was it lost the dual wishbone suspension up front and added some weight but the lift back setup in the RSX is still great for hauling a lot of cargo. Luxury coupes these days are limited to the expensive Audi A5 and infiniti G35/G37.

I had a prelude that reved a little higher than 86000. It had 225 whp it and was fast. That being said, I don't think Matt was driving the RSX correctly. He's use to a ton of on demand power. He needs to keep that thing around the 7k range to get the power. I bet that thing had more like 250 hp, not 200.

I've owned a lot of fast and different cars. (over 20 sports cars by 25 and driven a lot more) Everyone is different but personally for me, the rsx s can't be beat. Affordable in cost both running and to buy. Looks okay, not great. But it's a blast to drive for a fwd. I owned a 99 prelude sh and an 88 prelude 4ws. Those were both great fwd cars.. but highway cruising with no 6th gear and just no torque down low is definitely bothersome. I love S2000s, but they can't be driven in snow, and since I bought a house, can't afford 2 cars anymore. When I first test drove the rsx s.. first thing I thought of was a fwd s2k. It's weird because I didn't get that same feeling in the 08 si. No idea why.. but the rsx s is a monster.. k20z1 stock is a screamer and it always feels punchy because of the brilliant k20. Its the longest I've ever owned a car, and the best fwd I've ever owned for all around purposes. (second best is the probe gt, always put a smile on my face) 10/10 highly recommended. Only car I've ever given a perfect score to.

I have watched all the one takes and the whole time I was waiting for you to do a Honda with "real" (intake and exhaust profile) vtec engine, I figured you would really enjoy it based on your previous reviews. Hondas have a well deserved poor reputation in the automotive world but a proper dohc vtec Honda has this playful and enjoyable experience that's hard to describe. I've owned much faster cars, but I always enjoy ripping off shifts past 8k in a Honda, using the awesome gearboxes and just enjoying the responsive yet still comfortable suspension of an older Honda. My first car was a 1995 Prelude Si, I bought it for 500 dollars with 170,000 miles. I swapped in an H22A in my garage in 5 hours, did some suspension modifications and just drove the hell out of it. Earlier this year I sold it to a friend of mine, it now has 305,000 miles and is still as tight, quick and responsive as I remember. This video was just a reminder of how awesome Honda used to be. What the hell happened!

Yes! When my brother owned an 05 Type S, it was pretty damn good! I try to aim for that kind of comfort and performance with my Accord build. It's a damn shame that many RSX Type-S owners are all "camber-gang" or "stance nation" because the car is damn good! I love the way it handles, a few that go out to the track or auto-xing with me are sooo damn fast! Not quite as good as the Integra Type R, but that's a hard bar to overcome. Great review!

I've owned a shit ton of Mercedes sedans but my DD now is an '08 Acura TL. I have to say that you would have to work really hard to beat it. The interior is classy and functional. The ride is sporty. The chassis very well sorted and it looks good. I didn't go with OEM spec tires because I drive so much for work. I went with some LRR tires that don't have as high a speed rating as recommended but they are pretty damn good. They're quiet and I'm getting 26.5mpg with the a/c on driving mostly highway at an 85mph pace. I do use Mobil 1 0-W20 oil as well. Acuras are hard to beat in any category. I may go for a model with SH-AWD next time I'm in the market for a car.

There aren't enough reviews about the dc5 chassis. This is a car the auto journalists have really slept on that only those in the tuner community know about. It's reliable, affordable, economical, comfortable, sporty yet classy and subtly styled, the hatchback is super practical with full folding back seats, and it rips! It makes the perfect first car. +Mariano Sangollo I disagree with that. Sure, more torque, but it's not enough that you don't have to wind it out. I'd trade that for an 8600 rpm redline and a much larger aftermarket. Plus the chassis is more comfortable for DDing and it bites harder in the corners
@TheNuke959 жыл бұрын
+SupErnaTuraL315 as a '12 si owner myself i have to admit stock yes it is less exciting but when you add an intake the vtec does come alive and combined with a hondata ecu re-flash the redline extends to 7600 and you get noticeable power than it already has.

Really sharp looking car. Love the (what appears to be) HID projector headlight retrofit. My 94 Integra GSR is about to hit 350K miles, and it's only died on me twice. Once in 2006 from a crappy alarm install with starter kill that fried my ignition harness (5 years after it was installed), and once in 2012 with over 300K miles when the distributor gave out. I run sort of a "hybrid" OEM suspension setup, with Koni Sport yellow adjustable shocks, OEM Integra springs up front, and OEM DC2 Type R springs in the rear. Lowered down using the Koni adjustable spring perch. Plus the Type R 22mm rear sway bar. So I get near-OEM ride quality with the lowered stance.

Matt, I think the problem with the Acura RSX was that most enthusiasts looked at it as a Civic Si with an Acura badge and a higher price tag. ***** agreed, the base RSX is plenty for a starter car. Once she becomes more familiar with the dynamics of driving, weather and terrain changes etc. She can then get whatever she wants on her own dime! Lol.

Type S is a good platform to build on. Easy to work on. Light and quick.

Armenian owner haha... Matt it disappoints me that this and the s2000 video did not show you the TRUE potential of these cars as I have had both... For the Rsx I hope you get to drive a greatly modded one and smash hard because they take abuse and thats when you see the potential banging each gear right before the limiter and don't be scared to do a 1-2-3 gear pull smashing.. you should find a RSX with its K20 or even a K20/K24 with RBC intake manifold full bolt ons, exhaust, race header, intake w/velocity stack and a KPRO ecu tuned and I bet you will love the drive of the car.. as for the s2000 also full bolt ons 70mm exhaust and test pipe and a tune/flash you will love it.. I wish I had my s2000 still to let you drive if you even read this comment I am sure you'd have a lot of fun! Right now I bought my first ever BMW 2003.5 E46 M3 so far its a amazing car just its a vert :/

I love my RSX-S, I will never get rid of it unless it's to someone I really trust, I do wish I could revert some things back to stock as I feel I've ruined it a little bit but it's overall a great car, great gas mileage, reliable, comfortable interior.

Matt, if licensing issues are a problem, how about playing some out-of-copyright music? Wagner is always a good test of a stereo!

dre1507 damn that sucks sorry here that. At least you're driving something better now :) someday I'll get back in the game an get me a type-s or a 2000 Si civic coupe.

Yea, just waiting for the price on them to come down a little so I can pick one up for a project. K20 on boost is in my future. Good luck with yours in the future.

me too, surprisingly mine cost me $6k in repairs over the course of a month. clean title, 72k miles when I got rid of it, don't ask me how or why but my dad and I had a new $400 fix every week

Man i should've gotten a type s. i got an 05 Infiniti g35 six speed instead, and while a beautiful car, its jus not as fun and driver friendly as i would like. I feel very blessed to have it, but definitely getting an rsx type s next. I really need that k20 high revving scream.

I used to own a 2004 RSX-S and besides the fact that it had no torque around town, it was a fantastic car! Why Acura can't continue to make a sports car is beyond me.

Matt Farah if you are ever near NYC I know someone with a 1992 integra GSR...kind of an unknown, but first FWD vtec honda put out. It has a new ridiculously short synchrotech gearbox w/LSD R comp tires, brakes, suspension it's clean and he would be uncomfortable if you went too slow, not fast.

Honda/Acura use to make some pretty exciting cars. Integra, RSX, Prelude, S2000, NSX. I think the enthusiast/engineer guys use to run things and then the bean counters and suits took over and now look at them.

honda/acura will make cars that will last for another 20 years.

Manny787 it depends on what car. My girlfriend’s honda accords engine (2004 v6) was defective and her transmission went out (automatic). Honda makes horrible automatic transmission but obviously they got better over time.

I'm not so sure with the turbocharged mess that automakers are churning out nowadays.

Pretty damn cool and likely reliable car! Couldnt justify much over 5k for one though, i dont know how they are priced.
@speedfiend9259 жыл бұрын
Matt, you need to do a Honda S2000 video. RWD, high revving V-TEC motor, slick 6 speed gearbox and perfect 50-50 weight balance would carve up the roads you typically drive on. ;-)
@DMX-PAT7 жыл бұрын
Matt if you could could have this or an E46 M3 which would you go for, or even the best naturally aspirated cars if either of these don't cut it for you?
